I was wondering if my laptop would be good for playing games such as Counter Strike Source.

On my main pc I am running 2.1 ghz procceser and nvidia 7600 256mb pci and COD4, all the battle fields and CS works on it ))).

I could always reset the mobo pins and overclock the procceser. I can also overclock the graphic card on my laptop. I think I would have a 50-60 latency on CSS with theses config on this laptop.

    Specs
    AMD Turion(TM) 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-60 2.0 GHz
    2GB DDR2 System Memory
    128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
    160gb hard drive

I'll be fine for CS:S, but you could do better.

He means the CPU isn't really for gaming, and the GPU blows really (for gaming). At least get a notebook with an 8600GT for gaming purposes, and let me steer you towards an intel computer for those purposes.

The 8400 will play CS:S pretty decent, you'd probably have to put off shadows (I had to on my x1400) but it would run well...

EDIT*** If the only thing you will be playing is CS:S, you can run it. On low, but yes, you can run it. (praps on medium)

Actually, the CPU is fine. Now that I reflect on the statement I made, I think it's one of the stupider things I've said. What I meant was that there are better GPUs out there for gaming (duh), which is like saying there are bigger houses than the one you live it. I realize that you've already bought the laptop, so you can safely ignore that tacked on statement.

You'll be able to play CS:S at medium settings.

He means if you drop the AMD and go for the Intel you can get the 8600 which is better. Laptops are not the best platform for gaming but I can play pretty much every game out there with the laptop in my sig below. I may not be able to run games like crysis at full detail but it will run it at a good clip if I back it down a bit.

    PM MSG:
Mobile graphics cards are very shakey with overclocking, and you won't see much of an FPS boost.

The main problem is the 64bit bus the 8400gs uses, it's a narrow steam to accomodate the amount of data needed for gaming. Regardless, I second what Lithus said, you will play it on medium.

Seriously, we're talking about a notebook that has been purchased already, from a person who has a very low budget. Come on man.

    thankyou...

Guys I got the laptop for 850 dollar... I got it since it was such a good deal...
I believe I can over clock the processor to about 2.2ghz no problem. Also, the only thing I like about intel is that you can overclock so much... As far as the graphic card, thankyou justanormalguy. I think I can overclock it a bit, not much.

My Geforce Go 7200 32mb+turbocache does fine for CS:S at high res with Anti-Aliasing OFF. I was quite suprised at the performance for such a low level card.

A 8400GS will do fine with maybe 2xAA on
