Someone tell me how long it takes for a clearance delay, this **** is getting me pissed off. it said it would arrive today before 10:30, but i tracked the shipping and its still in Indy for almost 3 days now. Anyone else experiencing the same problem?!![]()

not for me. Mine shipped very fast.
Patience.... -
My dv2000t CTO was stuck in Anchorage on a clearance delay for several days back in September... pissed me off. The situation then was that it was one of the first batch of Core 2 Duo notebooks to ship, and they hadn't sent the necessary paperwork from China to U.S. customs for the new components. It was really aggrivating. Hopefully your will get cleared soon.

They told me that a whole shipment from HP was stuck in Indianapolis on Clearance delay due to missing paperwork on HP's part. Fed Ex told me on the phone that Fed Ex has been notified on the missing paperwork and when the paperwork arrives the shipment can continue on its way.
I ordered from the HP website on the evening of Feb 7th. It was shipped from Kushan, China Feb 14th, and suppose to arrive today (Feb 19th) by 10:30AM
I am about to call HP and ask a couple questions, like when does the warranty period and return period (30 days) start? When I receive the laptop or when the laptop was shipped.
Also, I wonder if there is a way to get some sort of discount from HP since it was there fault and all.... -
yea i know, i was suppose to receive my dv2000z today by 10:30. and i just checked the tracking and its still says clearance delay. this is getting ridiculous.
it better come this week.. arg.... -
ummm...for those expecting delivery today...it's President's Day. Chances are there are no deliveries from anyone except for those who used USPS Express Mail. Some FedEx and UPS delivery classes do also offer holiday delivery but at a huge premium price.
Just thought I would send that out there...
As for delivery delays when I used to buy our stuff from Dell we had the same problems...it might be a bad thing to actually be able to track our systems through the production process...
Hang in there!! I bet they will have them out in short order...I KNOW that still sux!!
Hey I just saw a UPS truck, so there are some out there! -
lol, thanks for cheering us up grumpy =)
-
hey, my notebook is stuck in indianapolis too. ours must have come in the same shipment.
my compaq notebook was supposed to be here by 10.30 today too, and then friday it showed that there was a clearance delay. nothing has changed since then.
i called fedex and they said that there was a whole shipment of hp orders stuck in indianapolis because of missing paperwork. the guy said there were about 40 computers in the shipment. they said i need to talk to hp.
so i called hp this morning and the rep said that it was due to the severe snowstorms last week. i countered that fedex told me that it was due to missing paperwork, and the rep said that the paperwork was delayed getting to indianapolis because the weather. he assured me that the computers would be shipped out before the week was over.
i've been tracking that sucker like 15 times a day.. hehe. and i don't want to have to wait another whole week. but what can i do now?
maybe we should complain to hp and get them to send us like a small rebate or something.. hehe. =)
good luck eriffic, hope our computers get here really soon!! -
seriously, we should get somewhat of a rebate, maybe like throw in a lcd monitor lol. it's wierd, cause they shipped out the printer really fast, i got that in 3 days, but this laptop is killing me!! i also check like 10 times a day, not as much as you but still lol.
gluck to you also!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
**update guys whenever your shipment comes or some news on the shipping, im definitely sure i will. -
I really and truly feel for you guys!! I have been there as recently as January with my NX9420. I bought it from a company in Canookia and asked for overnight postal express mail. Well they sent it via something called "Expedited Parcel" which looked as if it was the same as Parcel Post...turned out it was just about 6 or 7 business days including processing via customs. but I had never bought from this company before and was really thinking I had made a very very big goof! It turned out better then fine in the end.
Plus after researching Canada Post...I will NEVER EVER.....EVER complain about any mail/package service in the US, except for UPS...Canada Post even CHARGES those fun-lovin' Canookians to hold their mail!! No wonder they are all so wary of anything shipped to them!
Ok, maybe that got your mind off the wayward laptops...but we all know what it feels like!! Perhaps a bucket-o-Xanax might help? -
I know what you guys are talking about. But to cheer you all up good things comes to those who listen. Better things comes to those who wait.
Hey, and you all should already be callin HP to make them give you all some extended warranty or some cash back or something. Don't let it die, make thme know you all are serious. -
-
Just a heads up... checking the online status likely won't help you any. When my HP was stuck in clearance delay, it continued saying that for about two days after it was delivered. On the plus side, you should get the machine the next morning after they're released--regardless of your shipping method. FedEx does a good job of trying to make up for delays caused by HP. Who knows, you may get a surprise tomorrow or Wednesday.
I do like the HP CSR's lie about the situation though. They need paperwork from China that should have been sent with the systems... not paperwork from somewhere in the U.S. that would get delayed by snowstorms. I swear... I don't know how HP gets away with just making stuff up to tell people.
Anyway, hope you guys get your systems in the next couple days. -
I feel like a kid who was really excited about Christmas, and when December 25th came there were no presents and his parents told him that Santa got held up by customs because he was missing paperwork.
-
i feel the same way Copen. you think hp will acutally give cash back? or something like that? what should i say to them...
-
Mine is also still stuck in Indianapolis....
I don't understand why it takes a lot of time!!!!
My laptop was supposed to be here yesterday by 10:30AM, but the status is still "Clearance Delay"
- 0-;;
We should get a sort of discount or any material gift from HP, for example;a notebook dock, LCD, etc...
-
still on Clearance Delay... any of your guys' compy's there yet?
grrrrrr..
seriously, it does feel like christmas presents being put on indefinite delay. being stood up by Santa is a sad, gut-wrenching feeling. -
Nope, mine's still in "clearance delay" also. Bah humbug. Was really looking forward to it over the long weekend. Fedex told me it's a shipment of 310 laptops. How does HP drop the ball on paperwork with so many laptops every day?
-
Has anyone else think that HP needs to get much better hold music...I have spent so much time on hold getting transferred from department to department because no one has any idea what I am talking about
Fed ex on the other hand was very helpful and friendly when I called them. After one transfer, a lady was able to tell me exactly what the problem was.
I talked to a guy at HP tonight, after struggling through a language barrier (I had a difficult time understanding him due to a thick accent) all he told me is that I should receive the notebook in 2-3 days. -
im going to call hp tomorrow, see whats the deal and try to get something out of it... maybe money back?
ill let you guys know.
-
I am now part of this not-so-enviable class of folks whose HP DuoCore laptop is stuck in "clearance delay." I find it difficult to believe that HP is at fault in this regard -- direct shipment is a critical part of HP's business model. Were the media to find out about the extent of the problem being experienced by new customers, potential new customers might be put off buying the company's products, especially HP's newest and most powerful machines.
I wonder if the issue is with the Customs office in the Department of Homeland Security. The office may be reacting to criticism that holes may exist in the control of materials entering the U.S. by inspecting more packages or requiring more extensive paperwork.
Have any of you seen any responses from HP or Homeland Security?
Thanks. -
This is absolute BS now. We've been in customs clearance since Friday. That's 3 business days. Can't complain to Costco because they rely on HP to ship. May have a gripe with Fedex, but what are they going to do? I'll be calling them shortly to voice my displeasure. The real problem here is the US Customs agency. China is one of our largest import partners; wonder if they hold PC's in customs that are deliverable to US retail stores. If there's no update today, Fox 5 news would love this story.
-
UPDATE: just spoke to Fedex, they are still awaiting additional paperwork from the shipper. The rep did point out that Monday and Tuesday were national holidays in Asia, so that could be the delay. That being said, sounds like poor planning on HP's part; maybe they should have double checked all paperwork before heading out for their holiday. If that's the case, apologies to US customs.
-
I'm another one.
I searched HP's website for an appropriate number to call, but couldn't seem to find one that I thought would work well.
I did find a spot an HP's website to send an message to CEO Mark Hurd.
You can find that option clicking Contact HP>Email HP>Other questions/feedback> the last option.
maybe we should all send him a quick note voicing our displeasure.
Just a thought.

lol, the same exact message. it better come this week........ if not i think we should all spam emails to them complaining.
-
isn't Customs just special? Nothing can be done about it and it's really not HP's fault here either. The issue of waiting on paperwork is likely the normal paperwork delay. And someone finding that Monday & Tuesday are national holiday's in China could be another factor delaying the paperwork for the shipment.
We out here do feel for everyone waiting...it's gonna get there...at least you know WHERE it is...I mean it could be in the famous status from Dell "In PRODUCTION" that can last for a day to weeks on end... -
I find it difficult to understand how HP and its contract assembly plant in China could get caught with insufficient paperwork to move their inventory forward. Perhaps new inspection and/or paperwork requirements have been inposed by Homeland Security. I see that the HP stock dropped dramatically today, some 4.7%, with the company forecasting a drop in second quarter profits of 12% to 14%. Say, with all those computer boxes, ordered but not sold, sitting in Indianapolis one can understand the potential hit to sales and profits. Picture the last scene in the Raiders of the Lost Ark of the vast warehouse and acres and acres of boxes . . .
-
btw, the paperwork for known commercial shippers such as HP, Dell, whoever is likely on a per container basis and always sent seperately from the containers themselves. Likely the Mfg sends the shippments with a certain amount of paperwork then the importer, in this case HP & FedEx together, also sends along supporting and confirming paperwork. I would guess it all has to then be verified. Shipping on this scale is far different from you and I shipping or receiving a single box of stuff from somewhere.
I do believe there has been a change in how large containers are being cleared through US Customs, so you all might be right...new process might lead to delays in processing and increased processing time. -
hey has anyone actually called HP to complain / milk-a-sweet-deal-out-of-the-delay yet? gosh, it had better be here tomorrow by 10.30!! i can't take the suspense any longer...
sigh -
Im just thinking my laptop will never get built...
So you guys are positive the laptops are built in china? Because that means ill probably have to add another week of waiting. Chinese new year... dunno how many days they take off but I have heard of cases where they take a week off.
Perhaps they took the week and customs cant contact them for paperwork now O_O;; -
Just saw on the FedEx website: my computer has been released as of 2:00 am this morning. Now let's see how long it takes to arrive at our door. Thanks for commiserating.
-
For those interested the # is 800-455-4588 -
i wonder if it is normal for HP shipments to get stuck for a week due to missing paperwork? -
Grumpy, Thanks for the information. Can you tell us something about who your are and what you do? Sounds like you work for one of the computer companies. Do the big guys participate in this forum periodically to help out the user community anonymously?
-
i know im being really impatient, but i knowing that it is just sitting there in a warehouse, for a week, with no definite date when it will arrive
i check the fedex tracking website a couple times a day and for the past week all i have seen is thisAttached Files:
-
-
gcopenhaver, my fedex tracking page is virtually identical to yours, from the 2:56pm start time on feb14th to the 5:22am Clearance Delay on the 16th. this is quite unbelievable.. i was really hoping that it would get here today.
i have the fedex tracking page open, and periodically refresh it.. but nothing has changed in the past 6 days..
sigh. -
my laptop was delayed due to delay of custom parts to make it. they are shipping it 3 days late. but i got a $50 discount on any item on HP home store for the lateness. you can probably get something.
-
as of 11:38PM Feb 22nd my fedex tracking was updated to Int'l shipment release
i wonder if it will get here before the weekend? does fedex deliver on weekends? -
same here
11:38 Int'l shipment release
get here tomorrow!! get here tomorrow!! -
where you all live btw? and what is Intl's Release mean? hopefully it can come to NY by tomorrow
-
Good news for some (at least me) and hopefully all.
Mine too was updated at 11:38 to Intn'l Release. Then when I woke up this morning I checked and it said At Fed Ex Destination. It was in one city over from where i live. So I called FedEx to see if I could pick it up. I was told that unless they have attempted to deliver once you can't pick it up. Then the very nice woman said she would check to see what the status was.
She came back and told me the tracking site just hadn't updated and it was actually on the truck for delivery. Then about a half hour later it was updated on the web too.
So Fed Ex really moved things along once customs released them.
The nightmare is over.

As of 8:38AM this morning it arrived in the fed ex facility in Athens, I am leaving for the day around 1, i hope the fedex guy can get here before then -
awwwwkkkk!!! good-lord no...hehehehehe...I have, like several others around this place, been in the computer biz since the late 70s. In that time ya sort of learn to wear all the hats. I alos have lots of experience shipping as our family biz was antiques and I got eveything moved online. So learning about shipping issues is part of both worlds I live in...
And I am always up for lobbing rocks at the windows of the corporate world...I feel big business has done more to retard progress and harm the quality of life on this planet then any government or anything else on the planet...
hehehehe...ya almost kilt-me with the suggestion!! I actually cannot stand corporate America and have turned down pretty attractive jobs over the years....I'm sorta that square-peg/round-hole sorta guy...
Thanks for the morning giggle though!!
Still hoping the lappy's start showing up soon!! -
it came!!
it finally came!
the long wait is finally over, and my lappy is safe in my hands.. hehe.. it's starting up vista for the first time, and so taking me through the process. i'm not that thrilled to have been forced to pick vista on my machine, but i did get the premium so i could enjoy the eye candy. i'll report back how i like it.
i'm not looking forward to the bloatware uninstallation =/
and that was a ridiculous little ordeal.
but at least it's finally here... =)
hope everyone else's computers all show up today! -
-
I called Fedex this morning. They said HP sent them a memo stating that recipients can pick up their package at the Fedex sort facility if it's available before Monday. If it's there Saturday, I may take a ride and pick it up.
-
my laptop came about 10:15AM this morning. I think that is pretty good considering once it was released by customs, Fedex only took 1/2 a day to get it half way across the country to my door
