    because you might be installing

32Bit version of media smart in a 64Bit Win 7 version

because it is not compatibile (and might be possible if you installed it in Vista SP2 compatibility mode)

wait for HP to release a WIN7 edition of MediaSmart

Windows Media Center, already on your box, will do most of what you want. If fact the only difference, I'm told, is WMC doesn't support Blueray.

I have the same issue with MediaSmart TV. After upgrading to Win 7 it won't install from the HP site. The install comes up, a bunch of Command prompts go by, then it dies. And no, Media Center won't do the same things as the MediaSmart. For one, Media Center keeps saying I can't tune TV because I don't have a TV tuner installed.....which is of course incorrect.

WMC and Mediasmart are basically redundant programs. Just add Mediasmart DVD (or one of the other players for blu-ray) and you're good to go.

    Davidoo,

sounds like you may need to install the TV drivers. Win7 has some native drivers, but I'm sure not all. try the manufacture's site to see if there are drivers avail.

My tuner card or drivers are not the problem. It is the MediaSmart Live TV that won't install. I am trying to install the latest version for my model from the HP website. It starts to extract the files than just dies right when the Installshield Wizard should take over. HP support no help as they always parrot the same thing.....go back to Vista. Not an option.
