Hi all, ive been intensely searching google and this whole forum for information regarding the conversion of my laptop (hp pavilion dv2615nr) to xp. It came pre-installed with vista, and the hp only provides drivers for vista. I found and followed "TheDave" 's tut word for word on the dv6000 and all the drivers worked except the audio. Let me tell you the steps ive taken,
1. installed "sp33867.exe" (UAA)
2. rebooted after installation
3. TRIED to install "sp35682.exe" (audio driver), a box popped up and said
"The following file is already on your computer:
c:\swsetup\SP35682\CHDAud.sys
Do you wish to overwrite this file?"
I clicked "yes to all" and after that i got an error after the initializing box came up with the loading bars:
"Driver Installation Failed: Could not find the MEDIA device for this driver."
4. after that i uninstalled the UAA and deleted the folders located in c:swsetup\sp35682
and
c:swsetup\sp33867
5. repeated steps 1 - 3 and instead of "yes to all" i clicked "no to all" but got the same MEDIA error
additional info: somewhere along the lines i also tried sp34200, i just cant seem to find the solution. In the device manager i currently have:
system devices > Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio
other devices > (3) Unknown device
i tried manually pointing them to the sp folder to update and i tried automatic update which all failed.
any help would be greatly appreciated as i cant live with no sound, thx in advance, alfredo

Try using the drivers from the compiled XP driver pack. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=165319
You will definately loose some small sound function, either the mic or the headphone jack due to the driver support.
