Costco has 2 Hp Pavilion 17" notebooks available, the dv9653cl
and the dv9743cl, and I am not sure which one to get.

Here are the links to the spec sheets:
    http://www.costco.com/images/content/misc/PDF/11203300_dv9653cl.pdf
    http://www.costco.com/Images/Content/Misc/PDF/11203300_dv9743cl.pdf

    The dv9653cl has:
    1) Intel Core 2 duo T7500 (2.2Ghz, 4Mb cache, 800Mhz FSB)
    2) 2Gbytes system memory
    3) Nvidia GeForce 8600M GS graphics (1023Mb shared graphics mem, 256Mb dedicated)

    The dv9743cl has:
    1) Intel Core 2 duo T7250 (2.0Ghz, 2Mb cache, 800Mhz FSB)
    2) 3Gbytes system memory
    3) Nvidia GeForce 8600M GS graphics (1791Mb shared graphics mem, 512Mb dedicated)

So basically, one has a faster processor with more cache, but less memory, and less dedicated graphics memory.

I am tending to side with the faster processor version, with more cache, but what does everyone think? Are there any benchmarks comparing these 2 models?

    Thanks!!

Faster processor is good, but I'd still go with the dv9700. You are unlikely to notice much of a difference between the two processors (same with the ram). I think having more GPU ram may be beneficial and the dv9700 is the newer laptop.

How much do each system cost?

I would go with Option A(T7500+2GB) assuming its cheaper since ram is cheap and easy to upgrade yourself.

Basically, the performance will be the same with both cards(a 256mb 8600m GT will be a better choice if gaming is a priority)

Huh. Didn't know that about the GPU. I wonder why they even make cards like that  marketing?
