Yeah, it is.. I had only had this computer for like 5 months tops, and i have like a crack or something on the right side of the case, and on the left side, it is like lifting up..... HP Used to be good, i thought back in the Win 98 Days. How do i go about fixing this? I have tightened the screws, and that did not fix it.:(

That looks a lot like what has been happening to one of the Alienware
models. Turns out they used inferior quality fasteners, which broke down
and caused seam splits. Looks like your unit will need a new top case
    cover.

If you have indeed had the notebook for only 5 months tops you should still be within the warranty period and may want to contact the vendor (HP)

Contact HP and they will fix it free of charge including shipping to and from.

Don't do it yourself, otherwise you'll void the warranty.

your going to have to send it in for new cases, that particular case fastner snapped on the inside. If you try to push them together and if it clicks the fastner broke.

Never seen that happen before, must be a manufacturing defect.

The plastic the screw goes into must have collapsed. Have you dropped or opened your notebook recently?

It looks like you screwed around too much lol.

Honestly it just appears as if you turned the screw too many times and it went too far. If you send it in, you better have ADP. Like heck, I don't think they'll allow that. Tampering with the internal components usually results in your warranty being voided.

You might have to hop on ebay and search for a new casing.

Never seen this - in my experience the dv2000 and dv6000 lines have held up well. I've never had a case crack on one. However if HP is satisfied that you haven't gone fiddling with too much on the inside, you should be able to get it repaired under warranty.

    Good luck!

I never seen that happen not even my old dv6000 notebook and i have it for a 1 year and 2 months until the motherboard died on me and i got this replacement dv5 and the build quality on this notebook is very good for a consumer notebook. Send your notebook to HP so they can fix it for free

Wow, you got a new dv5z as a replacement instead of them repairing the old dv6000z? Sweet deal, they must be running out of parts.....

King, most likely spoke to a case manager, and got his replacement shipped to him. My DV4t is a replacement for my DV2500btw CTO since they missed the scheduled repair return dates.

Brontooxlr8 is right HP delayed my scheduled repair return date twice first it was 6/24 then when the date arrived they delayed it again to 7/10 and they it delayed again so i called HP back asking them why the delays. They told me that are running out of parts for the old models so they offer me the new dv5z as a replacement

    So KING,

How do you like the Quality of HP dv5z!?!?

And what kind of screen did it come with?

    How clear the screen is!?!?

Does it look washed out or anything?

    Thanks,
    G! :)
