    Hey everybody!!!
I have a quick question; does performing a Clean-Install of Windows Vista NON-HP VOIDs the One Year Waranty?
...because i'm about to send my dv6565ca laptop to Hp and I don't even know if that VOIDED my warranty.
Thanks for you time & help!

Well, I had to send mine in for repairs just today. I actually had mine for a month and also did a clean Vista install.

What I did was use my system recovery disks to return the system back to factory condition (bloatware and all). I'll just set it back up the way I had it when it comes back from repair and this was a good way to give me peace of mind that no one will have access to my private info by just leaving it on the computer.

The only thing that's different now from when they sent it to me from the factory is that it doesn't have the recovery partition on the HD.

As another member told me, use Acronis software if you want to back up your entire system as it is, settings, files and all and then when it comes back you can just use the backup file to get back up and running without having to start over. My backup file is 30GBs to give you a little indication of how that works.

Warranty only covers hardware. They will probably re-image your harddrive when they get it anyway

Two weeks ago when my notebook wouldn't power on I returned it without the harddrive. I had sensitive data on it that I could not access to delete. I informed the tech support person what I intended to do and to include this info in their notes. No problem, they repaired my unit sans disk drive. I don't think they care what is on the drive as I was told they most likely would restore to factory and not to worry about my data if I decided to send it with the unit (yeah, right)!
