I have a hp dm4 laptop with screen resolution of 1366x768. If I hook it up to a external display with max resolution of 1920x1080 , what will the resolution on that monitor be ? Can it show 1080p? The laptop screen is faulty so Im planning to get external monitor.thx

Yes, the dm4 will be able to drive a 1080p monitor, it'll be 1920 x 1080 on the monitor and 1366 x 768 on the laptop screen. You can choose to stretch your desktop across two monitors, or as is more likely the case since your laptop screen is faulty, just replicate the desktop on the monitor and use that as the main screen.

Thanks. How can I shut down my laptop screen totally? If close the lid I assume it wont display on the external monitor?

Press the "Windows" and "P" key at the same time and choose "Projector Only"
