    Hi guys,
Am facing this strange problem since few days. I have Vista SP1 on my lappy, when I turn on my system it start up good and when I see the desktop back ground the mouse rotating icon pauses and after say 10 secs it rotates again. I'm unable to operate any function in the pause period like right click or refresh. When I operate anything there will be a big beep. This beep is a little bit annoying.

    advice is appreciable.

    thanks,
    Rithesh.

I sometimes get that beep too whenever I try to access something whenever my CPU is bogged down from running a whole bunch of tasks. I think it's simply just a problem with running too many tasks in a CPU Cycle that Explorer will stop responding, and the Computer will give you the beep through the mobo speaker.

Is your Computer not booting up at all or is it just a long pause?

Go to your Device Manager > View > Show hidden devices

Search in the Non-Plug and Play section for 'Beep'. Stop this device and disable it.

A system beep can be a sign of a serious error. I suggest cleaning up your startup programs/service

It's really hard to tell what's causing it without looking at your running processes or Event Manager. It could range from a bad driver for somebody to a conflicting application for another.

Next time Vista hangs, go to Control panel, Administrative Tools and Click on Event Viewer. The log should be under Windows Logs, but I'm not sure if it would appear under application or system. Look for any events marked as Errors (or also possibly warnings) that occurred within the time frame of Vista hanging.

I have no idea with the beep sound. But you can try to change the power plan from power saver or HP recommended to Performance plan. Maybe this could help you from the pause period.

P/S*Performance plan is recommended running on plugged in.
