1) What is your budget? $1500-$2200
2) What size notebook would you prefer?
a. Ultraportable; 12" screen or less
b. Thin and Light; 13" - 14" screen
c. Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen
d. Desktop Replacement; 17"+ screen
3) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?
General web browsing, school reports, dvd watching, nothing too intense. I am unsure which games I will play in the future, as they are not out yet. I am actually not one for newer games. Based on what I play on my desktop, I would say Couter-Strike, Red Alert2 and possibly WC3.
4) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?
Taking it with me. But moderately heavy is okay. Nothing over 8.5lbs
5) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?
See above
6) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
No
7) How many hours of battery life do you need?
At least 2-3. More is always great
8) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?
Prefer to not have to go see it
Screen Specifics
10) Would you prefer standard or widescreen?

d. WXGA or WXGA+ - 1280x768/800 or 1440x900; Wider viewing version of XGA, good for movie viewing or spreadsheets.
e. WSXGA+ - 1680x1050; Wider viewing version of SXGA, good for movie viewing or spreadsheets.
f. WUXGA - 1920x1200; Wider viewing version of UXGA, good for movie viewing or spreadsheets.
12) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen?

Build Quality and Design
13) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
No
14) When are you buying this laptop and how long do you want this laptop to last?
By September 14 and as long as possible
Notebook Components
15) How much hard drive space do you want; 40GB to 120GB?
Minimal 60GB. More is desired.
16) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a DVD-ROM, DVD-CD/RW or DVD-RW drive?
I already was set on the Hp but am beginning to doubt myself. Think I might go with the Sager for the far better graphics.

dv8000z is light years away from the gaming power of the Sager, so there's no real comparison. x200 is not a gaming card, x1600 is a gaming card.
HP would further offer worse builld quality. Generally, HP offers good budget notebooks but when you max them out (like you did with dv8000) they are not attractive at all.
Get the Sager, IMO
And do not cross-post (or probably cross-cross-cross post), Mods don't like it -
brianstretch Notebook Virtuoso
Check out the new dv9000z, which is much more comparable to the Sager.

for a fair result take a dv8000t instead of a 8000z... the "t" uses better graphics and Intel Core duo processor... the 7600 is much better than the X1600
