I haven't really done anything with the computer, but the fans jump on and get really loud every now and then when I am just on wireless and surfing on Firefox...Also it has been shutting down randomly and then it tries to turn itself back on and then shuts down real fast and does it a few more times then finally just quits and shuts off until I turn it on after like 20 mins. I really have no idea why it keeps shutting down on its own, but I just have the computer on and it shuts off without me clicking anything... HELP PLEASE

BrandNewFinch,
You're not blocking the vents are you? Even if you are I've never heard of a case where it overheats like that, but worth checking you're not blocking them and seeing if it still happens? -
Try cleaning out the vents. Take an air duster and blow the vents when the laptop is off. Actually, blow the air through the fans at the bottom. The air then follows through right out the vents clearing whatever dust might be accumulated. Could be a lot of dust collected between the heat sink plates. If it still happens after that, contact HP.

Thanks again everyone for your fast replies. I am going to blow it off with air duster, and then I will report back in a few days to see how it goes. It is not blocked it has been on my wood desk since I bought it, but my room is pretty dusty for some reason so maybe that is the problem? I am moving to Chicago so we will see if it was the room being dusty which played a role. Should I buy a laptop cooler to put under it? Or will it be fine on a aluminum style desk that I bought at target made for laptops?

If it is a heat problem clean out all the vents and buy a cooling pad.
