I have HP Envy 13 with Nvidia chip MX150 almost new ,since around 1 month nvdia graphics performance are no more than 15fps on games, games are shuttering realy bad, everyting worked nice before,i had done tests and to me this is faulty hardware, temps are fine but clock on nvidia chip are around 900mhz and not rising ,no throttling since temps are not rising, fan not even working like before,i already contacted hp and they gonna collect my pc,maybe need to change entire board, tried lots of nvidia drivers,my bios is the latest one ,all drivers are up to date, performance is bad.
Nvidia sells two different MX150 chips under the same name, but with different hardware IDs.
A slow and cheap chip - has ID 1D12. Fast 1D10. You can see ID in GPU-Z.
Hp envy with mx150 have the slower chip variant, but no one advertise that,i dont think this is my problem, because i use to have average performance with this chip but suddnely really bad performance arise...

At the end Nvidia is selling same brand of chip but with different performance, Laptop vendors don't advertise that and consumers get different performance on the same chip, why?
Anyone with this model have the same problem?nvidia chip is performing really bad,i found one user on hp forums with the exact same problem

So you're stuck at 900mhz core clock?
-
Yes on average yes, when i start a game clock go up like 1400mhz few seconds and the go down to around 900mhz,but my temperature stay low,no throttling -
Even if this chip is the slower one is mind blowing because I use to play with good frames, example Gta v high settings at full HD I use to get almost 50fps almost all the time, now with same settings is around 15fps,the temperatures at that time always good, with average 68/70 degrees, now 15fps , I really don't understand what happened, I have done everything so the only conclusion is faulty hardware, and now that I have found more people with the same problem, exactly, I'm afraid that after board replacement the problem can arise again.

don_svetlio In the Pipe, Five by Five.
Check the CPU as well - my money is on that being limited and bottlenecking the GPU.
-
how can i check cpu? xtu? -

XTU, HWiNFO - many apps report throttling

thanks to Danishblunt, at the moment i will send my pc to hp,he tried with remote session to fix my pc ,but seems i have problem with voltages and cant fix this for now.

hello again
my envy just came from Hp repair and they changed board,im having the same issue, nothing changed bad performance are the same
this few examples of my games, all this games i used to play with good frames, now they run bad,on top left you can see frames, and i never get more than 20,i use to get almost 60fps with the same settings,a checked all nvidia settings, performance ,balanced ,optimal etc,no result,i have latest bios, tried lots of nvidia drivers, did clean install of windows, nothing changed this ,
my Gpu z under load,Perfcap reason is always changing to idle/power/power/idle every 1 or 2 seconds, must be related with power ,i dont know : (
i have all settings in max performance on nvidia settings,no thermal trothling since my gpu never goes above 57c
i dont know what to do more...
-
I can't help but feel they didn't change your board at all. Idk I'll look further into this.
-
I have that feeling to,at least they opened the pc lol ,because i checked and on top of cpu and gpu on copper thing, i use to have black sticker covering that ,like insulation sticker or something like that, and i can see now that sticker was ripped, and they glued again there, but not like before, but dont know if they changed board, they just send me paper with ...test passed, test passed ...lol
the test i had done before i send pc to repair,on bios with hp software that is bundled on bios ,and like them all test passed ok,cpu, board etc.
but what i know the problem is here, and im not quit, i cant have this pc with this performance,im on warranty and im in talks, they doing again remote assistance to try figure out,but no sucess... -

one more update about this
today I received another response from hp technical department, again the say no problem in the computer, lies and more lies, you can see mail here:
"I received the unit tested it and the unit does not have any issue or any problem. The NVIDIA Card is a low performance card, but one of the games, Gravel is the one that is more demanding and the FPS are slow and the game performance is not optimal, not good, still playable, but it is very slow.
The unit does not have any issue and there is no need for further troubleshooting and further investigation, and unit must be return to customer. Below you can check the tests performed with each card individually and different games.
Hollow Night has a much better performance than Gravel and being a different type of game with less action in the screen, having higher FPS on higher screen resolution...
Gravel FPS - 15 FPS 1280x1024
> NVIDIA MX 150
Gravel FPS - 11/12 FPS 1280x1024
> INTEL UHD 620
this is completely unacceptable, they tested the same game both with integrated graphics and then with Nvidia chip, like we can see the frames are almost the same, and never in this world Nvidia chip can have same performance , so at this time I'm completely mad about hp, I can't accept this, I paid more because Nvidia chip and now they say this, if no one help I will take this to court, hp sold me pc with different specifications and advertise wrong product, and they refused to repair pc or return money, I will spread all this around the web, people need to know hp, they refuse to give assistance and they don't assume problems with their products.
thanks -
