So tonight I used my 30 days old envy 14 for about 20 minutes, I turned it off normally and went to work. 2 hours later when I got back home the envy 14 did not turn on!!! Even the battery light is off. So I changed the outlet and nothing. After 20 minutes I see a light in the battery point and I try again, so it finallys turns on with a very strange noise like a continuosly BIP. I turned it off again and when I turned it on the noise stopped and everything was fine (Iam writing with it, right now). The battery was not drained (83%) and I do not have any heating problems with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Iam afraid the problem might happen again and its a very scary problem I might say.
Thanks a lot.
PS: Sorry for my english, Iam from Brazil and I cant call HP because their support sucks and I bought the notebook in the US.

1. Unplug the AC Adapter.
2. Remove the Battery.
3. Press and Hold Down the Power Button for 30 Seconds.
4. Reattach everything and power it back on.
That should SAFELY discharge any excess charges on the motherboard and everything is good to go. The reason it refuses to turn itself on was to prevent the system from short-circuiting and your method of resolving it was not a very safe approach. Next time, follow these directions above for a safe resolution. Otherwise, your laptop is fine and there is no problem with it. -
Thanks a lot strikesaber. Is there any specific reason for a residual static discharge to happen? Could it be avoided or I just have to follow the procedure next time it happens and there is nohing that can be done to avoid it. Thanks again

However, if it does happen again, follow the procedure and it should easily recover. -
do you think a no break could help?
