Well, I was browsing HPA's facebook page and found this. This just in - the radiance screen for the Envy 14 is available again for a limited time as a display option!
Molly at HP gives us an Release Date of September, as quoted "The Envy 14 doesn't have Sandy Bridge yet but its in the works planned for approx. Sept, the Envy 17 is planned to get Sandy Bridge in late Feb."
Just figured you would all be interested in this. Enjoy!

You're right...
September for SB refresh on the Envy 14??? Has to be a mistake or something. By September Ivy Bridge will be the next big thing... -
wow.... envy 17 for late feb kinda make some sense but envy 14 in 9 months??

In all honesty it wouldn't surprise me, the envy was made as competition for the macbook, right now, all of the hardware offered w/ the envy is equal to or superior to the current line of macbooks and macbook pros, I'd imagine they're waiting for the competition to refresh to see what kind of hardware they're offering so hp can one-up them. There is supposed to be a nationwide press conference this week, hopefully then we will get some confirmed dates.
-
-
which reminds me, arent the macbook pros suppose to refresh in march? I think theyll refresh the envy at summer time like the last refresh
-
I do hope she is wrong about the late Feb for Envy 17....
-
Well late feb would make more sense since thats when the SB i5's roll out, Feb. 20th to be exact. Might as well offer a different variety of CPUs.
-
Sept. is a way too long it might be Feb or march when the new i5 are out and HP desktops with i5 are already on sale, But Utilization of switchable graphics is what the most needed.
-
Envy 14 for september?
I was hoping to get a refreshed envy 14 for college but i think sept will be way too late. I hope that was a mistype. I shop it comes out end of feb like the envy 17. I wonder why it would take that long to update the envy 14. -
It would be really dumb on HP's part to stick with the previous generation processors on a premium model when all the competition has moved to the latest chips. I don't expect them to wait all the way till September.
-
September seems far off, I don't believe it either. 1-2 months seems more likely.
Why else would we have major sales / coupons / promos rampage now ? -
Februrary release for SB Envy 17 makes the most sense of anything I've heard, given HP's actually press release announcements, and has the most credibility in the sense that "molly athp" appears to be an hp employee. To the extent this is true ,I'd say we're four weeks out, approximately.
-
I don't expect a FULL refresh of the envy 14 in the coming months. And when I say full refresh I mean the works...new processors, USB 3.0, blue-ray possibly, new casing or whatever. But I would not be surprised if they offered SB on the e14 sometime next month and then do a major refresh later in the year to combat with new macbooks.
-
-
The end of February would make sense. If HP has decided to offer the new Envy 14 in both dual and quad core flavours, like they did last year, then they were forced to postpone the Envy 14 launch courtesty of Intel.
Since we didn't see a new Envy 15 at CES, we could easily rule out an Envy 13/15 release in the near future.
Either the rep desperately wants to sell out the old Envy 14 inventory before the new Envy 14 launches or HP is making a big mistake. We'll see by the time February 20th has passed... -
adding to that, look at the Envy 17 refresh already announced: Coolsense, AMD 6850 switchable to integrated graphics, and Widi. To leave USB 3.0 out of that mix would be rather conspicuous, it seems to me. I wouldn't expect a new case, but depending on how they solve the hand warming feature the could modify the existing case internals to improve airflow in critical areas. -

..and there is a rumor of an HP meeting today, is it likely that there will be a new ENVY14 with in the next 2 months?
-
I never buy right away. I like to wait for a few months and buy it for $600 less than you did lol. Its a losing game chasing the tech best. There is always something new coming. Buy the 14 while its cheap and sell it if you really want the sandybridge later. You likely will get a good price selling an envy and since you got a good price buying it if you use a big coupon you wont lose to much. -
-
It doesn't make sense to have an entire HP facility dedicated to the phone market, they should have different departments. What they do in the notebook department shouldn't affect what they do in the phone/tablet market. Whatever the reason is for the delay, I'm happy cuz then I won't feel as bad for buying the current model lol
-
-
It is always leaked eventually. Today all the specs for the tablet was leaked. LOL. Engadget prob pays these people off. I know hp is working on the evny line I am just saying we prob wont hear any news from them about it till after the release of new tablet and whatever webos is doing on the 9th. They already said they want to make your laptop the new desktop with webos so it makes sense to release the 17 envy first in hopes people get a 17in laptop/desktop replacement a 9in tablet and a 3.5in phone. I may do this someday lol.
-
or a 4.3" phone
-
-
I wish for a Full HD Envy 15 or Envy 16 with SB processor and switchable graphics
-
same, envy 16 would be great!! but it must have GDDR5 than//

According to this article HP CEO: New webOS products shipping weeks after February 9 reveal, another big announcement March 14 -- Engadget
There will be another big announcement on March 14th.. Envy refresh maybe? I hope so.
"On top of all that, the BBC calls February 9 just the "starting gun," because Apotheker's "secret answer" and "vision of what HP is capable of in the future" will come on March 14, where he'll try to pull together HP's vast product portfolio into a cohesive narrative" -
I'm going to bump this, anymore word?
Would love a SB radiance envy 14.
It's either that or the Sager NP5160 -
-
What April announcement?
-
-
Considering they are offering 6770 GDDR5 in the plain DV6's, is there a chance of Envy 14 with this (or 6750 GDDR5) and 900p+ resolution?
ULV's & Atom's do 720p screens so would be a bit ridiculous in the Sandy Bridge era not to offer some higher quality displays, shame the Radiance Displays are gone forever. -
My envy 14 beats just came in today, man I love this thing so far. I hope they announce the new one soon, I have 21 days to play around with this thing.
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
I'll just let you guys be sandy bridge guinea pigs while I stick with my old CT1000 and the radiance screen (and suddenly click anywhere touchpad)
that being said, hope it does get announced (so that they continue the envy 14 line and sometime down the line 2-3 years I'll get a new one...'course I may just jump to a sager. Who knows) -
Still no word on the refresh. Most people thought the march 14th announcement was about the envy but no gravy. I've tried contacting HP about the refresh and they just basically suggested I buy the new dv6 if I wanted a sandy bridge computer and that they will never again carry the radiance display.
My thought is that they will go to a 15" HD+ display since they can no longer get high def 14" radiance displays and 15" displays are widely available. If that's the case they should make a 13" as well and complete the line.
I need a new computer but I'm not buying anything until they refresh the envy or come out with something similar to replace it. -
^ yes, that's what I think too. There are tons of 15'' 900p and 1080p screens out there.
-
The new Sony C series 14in offers a 1600x900 display...just food for thought.
-
HP, please come up with 2nd gen Sandy Bridge Envy 15 in your next announcement
-
I was asking the same thing here, but I want a black Envy 15 SB!Last edited by a moderator: May 7, 2015

Jesus Christ! Announce the envy refresh already!!!
-
Only thing it lacks is the sexiness that envy possesses. It comes in awful colors!
Damn you HP for not releasing the refresh! -
Yea it's not the sexy but it comes with all the updated internals and Blueray is an option. I mean pretty loaded it's about $1400-1500. Not a bad deal but the Envy does have the edge on looks. Been happy with my loaded DV5T but if they don't update the Envy soon might jump to Sony...who knows.

lovelaptops MY FRIENDS CALL ME JEFF!
It's abundantly clear that HP has taken all focus off consumer notebooks. The CEO, Apotheker, has no background in them (SAP for decades) and apparently no interest. HP is a top-down company. The Envy 14 is a headache I think they are trying to forget - and get the market to forget. That way, they can quietly release a ho-hum refresh with a crappy screen and SB processors - big whoop - probably not til May/June, due at least in part to the shortage of key parts from Japan.
The Envy 14 is dead - long live the Envy 14! -
Slightly off topic, I'm definitely going to work my butt off for the rest of grad school to ensure I have a job at graduation. Even if I'm working 60hrs/week, I still want $ for that kickass laptop! -
