I had to send my DM3 1044nr in for repairs for faulty workmanship. the chrome plated bezel flaked off.

so my story starts I contacted Microsoft and they got HP to set up the warranty repair.

they were to send the box out 2day air but they sent it out ground, then they promised they would send it back to me 2day air and yet again sent it ground.

got it today and found they stole my 7200rpm drive and stuck in a 5400rpm drive. when the only thing they were too replace was the bezel.

so they are sending me out a 7200 drive (hopefully) and I am supose to get it next week.

so for a whole month I was out of my DM3.

and the hp escalation rep never returns her calls or emails.

I think I am going to contact her supervisor cause that is bull. she screwed it up and then does nothing to try and fix the issue

HP Support is a hit and miss with people. I had similar issues with your situation but my Case Manager actually gave me a replacement before I said anything about the terms I wanted, so I am happy about it at the moment, even though I would like a year add-on to my warranty.

I don't even know why you contacted Microsoft in the first place.

It was clearly a hardware problem.

    Microsoft sold you what?

Best thing you can do for now is stay on top of them.

Microsoft is just the retail store in this case.

HP will still the first point of contact even if its an OS issue.

"Who do I contact for support?

For HP computer models with the customized Microsoft software image, you should contact Microsoft Support - not HP Support - for advanced troubleshooting and hardware repairs.
For instance, if you cannot play a music CD in your optical disc drive, you should read the HP support articles for troubleshooting ideas, run the Windows Update utility, and run the HP Support Assistant to get the latest updates. If there is still a problem after doing all the standard troubleshooting actions, you should contact Microsoft Support for assistance or service:
•Go back to the Microsoft store of purchase
    •Call Microsoft at 1-877-MY-MS-STORE (877-696-7786)
If you contact HP for support, you will be directed back to Microsoft for support.

What if I need repair service?

If there is a hardware failure, you must contact Microsoft Support and they will explain how you can ship the computer to a service facility, if needed."

I had no prior knowledge that microsoft even does that. In that case you should force microsoft to repair it. It could cause a confusion between the two.

Though its possible MS have handed the support and service back to HP.

Just for reference, did HP automatically know that you purchased it from the microsoft store (lol btw i totally forgot about those, they bend all laws of microsoft) like from the serial number or something?

For notebooks purchased from other stores, they generally have no clue.

why did you send your machine to HP with an aftermarket hard drive installed?

What happened to the original hard drive?

Had you opened up the machine in any other way?
