    Uhh, yeah...

Your problem is a defective (randomly insert anything remotely related to laptops).

Call HP tech support and send it in. It's just too hard to say what it could be, it's like saying your car won't start. Well that could be ANYTHING? Call HP and see what they say.

On my dv9700t, keyboard/mouse both stopped functioning and the screen froze up a few times. When I did a hard reboot, it refused to turn on. I just pulled out the battery, waited a while, and it worked again.

They might. You should backup no matter what though.

If you have the recovery partition, you can boot from that. Hit one of the F-keys at boot (F10, F12...).

    F11 repeatedly.

I recently had a problem where it wouldn't work after hitting F11, so...

Go to start, search for RECOVERY MANAGER and click on it, then click ADVANCED OPTIONS and select SYSTEM RESTORE. Then go through the steps by clicking next, then at the end it'll either reboot itself, or just reboot yourself, then it will automatically boot up in the recovery partition.

    Good luck.
