Hi,
So I bought an HP tx1309au almost two years ago. A year ago I had it fixed for some problem, and when I got it back, I noticed that it was more prone to overheating and shutting down in the middle of being used. Usually the screen would just fade into black and then before you know it, the computer has shut down. In the last 3 days, this has happened, on average, 5 times a day. Just today it shut down for the 3rd time an hour ago. I've switched to the spare power cord provided, and while that solved the overheating problem, it still shut down unexpectedly. Any advice? Do you think it's a battery or power source problem? Thanks.

I think it is much more likely to be a problem with improper cooling.
The first thing to do, if you are comfortable with it, is to open up your laptop and clean the fans and airways, preferably with compressed air. That can help a lot. -
Be VERY careful. These laptops are very small and prone to heating, and have the nVidia GPU/chipset issue. You want to keep it very cool, or else you may damage the nVidia components (resulting in anywhere from non working wireless to a completely useless computer).
Have you applied the latest BIOS update for the tx1000 series? It keeps your fans spinning at a constant low rate, better cooling your system. -
Thanks for the advice. I'm bringing it to the HP service center tomorrow. Tbh, when I had it fixed a year ago, it was a problem with the wireless.. if that's true about the nVidia components, I think it's possibe they may have replaced it with an inferior one.. will try to get the BIOS update later. thanks again.
