I was just looking at the warranty entension plans on HP. The maximum warranty extension is 4 years...I was wondering whether i could, instead of buying the 4 year extension, buy 1 year extensions as i go along? I mean, is there a limit to the amount of times u can extend ur warranty? And one last thing, do they have to check ur computer for damage before they sell u the extension?

i may be wrong but i don't think that's how it works. i think if you buy an extension of let's say 3 years, it just replaces your 1 year. so after 1 year and you buy a 3 year warranty, it just extends it for 2 years. this is how i am understanding it unless you are looking at different one

Any extension includes the first year warranty. So 3 years is 3 years from date of purchase. I think you can only purchase and extension once and the computer has to be still in warranty.

yeah that's what i meant. so after you have it for one year and you extend it to 3 years, it's actually only 2 years since the first year is over. dougjr explained it better then me

Usually if you complain long enough, they just give you a free warranty upgrade.

oooh...do go into detail

haha
ok thanks every1....so just to get this clear...the warranty extension includes the first year (so if i buy a 4 year extension after the first year is over then i'm only getting 3) and i can only buy an extension once. What about the checking for damage thing?

Just grab the Warranty with ADP. It's only a few bucks more. Say for instance you run over your laptop with the car in two years, they'd replace it free of charge.
