    Hi, i'm planing on buying a Hp zd8000. ($1650) :hp:

    1) Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 520 w/HT Technology, 2.8GHz
    2) Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Media Center Edition
    3) HP Dual TV Tuner/Digital Video Recorder
    4) 3-year HP Express Repair extended service plan
    5) 17.0" WXGA+ BrightView Wide Viewing (1440x900)
    6) 512MB DDR2 SDRAM, 400MHz (2x256MB)
    7) 80 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
    8) DVD+/-RW/R & CD-RW Combo w/Double Layer Support
    9) 128MB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) X600
    10) 12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    11) 54g(TM) Integ. Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN & Bluetooth

    Would like to know where is the best place to buy it from. IS it better to buy online or at a shop (if so which 1 gives d best deals).
    Also how is Hp's service & product quality. I will be studying in Rochester, Ny

    Straight from HP is probably your best bet. Costco and Office Depot apparently have great deals periodically, though. Also, did you go for the Academic Price thing? That could shave a hundred or so off of the price.

    As for HP's quality, I've not bought from them before, but most whom I know with HP computers tell me those things are rock solid. Service was some of the best I'd ever worked with, also.

    If it's within your budget, spend a few hundred more and upgrade the processor to a 6xx series processor. It can lower its clock speed, so you should be able to have a cooler running notebook.
