Hi guys - long time lurker, hope this is a decent first post!
I was having a discussion with my techy cousin (he's on the geek squad at our local best buy) about HP's warranty coverage. Now, I have the 1st gen Envy 14 - I love it and treat it with the utmost care to this day. When I bought it (day of release, man I can just remember how excited I was about this slick looking machine with great resolution, and solid specs) I went ahead and picked up the 3 year total coverage plan. I am SO thankful that I haven't had to use it!!
From what I understand, the Envy 14 machine that I know and love has been discontinued (WHY?? it is the best balance of style and performance!) so, lets say my 5 year old sister spills grape juice all of the machine and, hell, for conversation, lets say she throws the machine down the stairs - how would the warranty cover it if the original model has been discontinued? My cousin says HP is one of the best companies out there and will replace my (hypothetically!!) broken machine with a brand new one of the same value - I on the other hand am extremely skeptical and only imagine them sending me an old dusted-off 1st gen Envy 14 they had sitting back in the storage.
What do you think they'd do? Is HP known for its customer service? How do most companies handle warranty coverage on discontinued products?
Thanks for reading and I hope to see who is correct! Thank you and may the gods be with you, fellow Envy lovers.
