I'm gonna buy a HP Pavilion Laptop tomorrow from Best Buy. And it say's it has built-in high-speed wireless LAN (802.11b/g) Now my wireless router is a Linksy's rangeplus N-Router. Would I be able to connect to my network even if that notebook doesn't have N wireless built into it?
-
I'm a newbee, but i believe N routers should be backwards capatible. So it should work.
-
yes, it will work, but you will be limited by the bandwith of the G wireless card, (obviously).
-
Will there be a huge difference? I'm right below my router.
-
well, personally, i've not used an N router yet, so i don't know how fast they can be. Have you used a G type card and router before?
-
No, but N-Routers are really for people that need to hook up 5,6,7 computers, or for people with huge houses. I don't even know why we got a N-Router...
-
was it on sale or something?
-
What the router? No, we just wanted to take the safe route and get a powerful one I guess.
-
N is better when the router is on a different floor from one, some or all of the computers connecting via wireless. Depending on the angle, a wall and fllor can represent many more feet than you would think so N allows greater ability to maintain connection strength. Also consider a high gain antenna.
-
So the laptop will work fine then?
-
A (802.11b/g) work fine with with the N-Router. I guess the Internet won't be as fast but it sure will work.
-
Thanks everybody.
-
yes, it will work fine.
