You are not the only one. I researched for at least a week for XP drivers and downloaded them but they just did not work for my tx1120us. After initial successfull install of Windows XP, the next step was NVIDIA chipset driver. It just simply refuse to install. I tried three different chipset drivers as suggested by others via Google and forums and no go. I did not have success with NVIDIA graphics driver either. Others claim to have Windows XP install success with their HP 12.1" tx1000z series notebooks but I am skeptical.

Good luck on your Windows XP install. If you are successfull, please post how you did it.

I ended up doing a clean Vista install. See http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=120228. It's noticably faster than factory Vista install and battery life seems to last a little bit longer. The shutdown now takes a quick 25 seconds. The boot up time is also faster than factory Vista install.

I have this same laptop, and I had to reinstall vista too. It took about 20 minutes to start up with the pre-loaded vista, a half hour to shut down, and didn't let me open my notes with word. I am a student, so I need to be able to open the notes. I would go to my notes folder, click on it, and wait 15 minutes for word to start, then 20 minutes more for it to give me an error that said it didn't know what a .docx file was.

I really wish HP would release XP drivers for this.
