The "indestructible paint" on my dv9543cl has chipped...even though it shouldn't!

It's on the palm rest, in the area above the latch button...

    Anyone else with this chipping?

There's a pin hole sized scratch just above the latch hole of my sister's tx1000z.

maybe he won at scratching it and proving them wrong.

I didn't realize that hp advertised the paint as indestructible. I thought that was something not even Toughbooks claimed.

For minor scratches, try scratch remover for cars. I used GT88 on another laptop and it got rid ofthe scratch.

It's even easier on the HPs because the surfaces are glossy. Just wax over the area after you're done for a brilliant shine!

Perhaps I'm slow but ... shouldn't we be more worried about the hardware and stuff like the keyboard holding up?

I have the same laptop and I can't say that I expect the paint on it to stay pristine forever.

What are you doing to it, anyway? :p

I dunno why I said "I win" really...I was probably a bit disappointed and said it without knowing...

It scratched in about twelve days of normal use...and some video I saw that was of the Pavilion designer said something along the lines of the fact that the design was imprinted onto the plastic, and that it shouldn't scratch off like paint...blah...

I guess indestructible plastic, or whatever you would call the imprint part, would be a bit of an overstatement...

Just a bit disappointed with the build of my laptop...some keys higher than others, the number pad a bit saggy, and now this...

I think I'm going to return this to Costco, to be honest...I sort of regret grabbing a GS over a GT anyways.

    2+ more months to decide!

very interresting. i owned mine for 1 and a half months and i dont have any scratches. maybe it was just that one laptop or just the person who painted the laptop was sleepin on the job

These laptops are painted? I thought the color is part of the plastic, which is then laminated with heat, hence the "Imprint" technology in HP marketing speak.

I don't know why but it makes me kind of sad to hear that you're thinking of returning it (unless, of course, you're a hard-core gamer and need the GT). Then again, I guess it's true what "they" say ... ignorance is bliss and I'm one blissful HP lappy owner! :D

Penryn, GeForce 9 series, and LED backlit screens are just around the corner...might as well jump on the quad core goodiness :D
