I just bought the NC6000 a week or two ago it and seems to be one of the most feature packed machine with great reviews... still i dont see any one talk about it here in forums... any reasons why? is there something i dont know about NC6000? it does 5+ hours, runs cool and connects to anything you throw at it. Gaming is great!
any one got anything to share?

ok i have UT2004 retail/ NFS Underground/ Medal of Honour Break thrugh/ Battlefield 1942: Secret weapons and MS Asheron's call: DM running on my machine and i have yet to see a skip running at 1024x768x32 max detail. UT2004 and NFS are Direct X 9 games, mohaa and BF1942 are DirectX 8 and ACDM is DX7. They all run and look great and play extremely well! after searching quiet a bit i found that the NC6000s have a slower version of the Radeon 9600 probably choked by the 32MB. Though every one in other forums agree that it plays just about every game well, and still runs cool and lasts 3 hours+ through intense games, it doesnt seem to perform too well in the benchmarks... I downloaded the aquamark and my score seems to be almost half of yours. HP also seems to have underclocked the radeon 9600 for some reason so many ppl have overclocked them on their own and are happy with it. I still dont feel i need to OC as the games i want to play are running fine and if they dont i still have the Athlon Desktop siting idle.

I'm interested in this notebook although the low video RAM turns me away so are you sure it can run a game like Unreal Tournament 2004 at max settings with no problems?
More specifically can it run Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow at max with no problems?
And I've heard of a 64 mb version of the 9600 for this notebook so I'm wondering where I can find one with this card in it? I can't seem to get one out of HP's site.
And lastly, the screen, how does it look? For some reason that's become a priority in my laptop hunt.
Thanks. -
No Max settings were jittery i was running at high settings i have not done heavy testing on the game yet will go home and do so... dont wanna attract a crowd here at work
Also i just read up some mpre the 32mB Radeon 9600 that i have is a 64bit version, where as the 64mb version is 128bit so the performance difference will be almost double.
That sorta answers my question why my Aquamark scores were almost half of Quickster even with a faster Pentium M CPU. the 32mb radeon 9600 is 64bit! but despite what the benchies say almost every NC6000 user in all the forums that i hopped through, seem sto be hay with the gaming performance. I have yet to test Far cry which in my oppinnion is currently the best Direct X9 title in the market.... i will post results of that later.
My screen is XGA and its very bright and sharp! i am happy with it but if you are picky on this, you may wanna go for the optional WSXGA or SXGA which seem to be popular .. i wouldnt know the difference there since i am new to notebooks.
hmm i can also test out splinter cell when i get homewill let you know how that goes.

I've finally gotten past most of the bad stigma attached to the HP brand and everyone I've come across with this model seem really happy with their purchase [8D] -
I think the reason why not a lot of people talk about this unit is because not a lot of people have this unit. Wardzone recently posted a review of his NC6000, which was very informative. But I believe the majority of the HP owners have the consumer product lines (Pavilion or Precario) since they give a bit more bang for the buck. The Business/Corporate lines are usually fairly pricey compared to the same config in the consumer lines. That's what I think, but could be wrong.

I recently returned a zx series and purchased the NC6000. You are correct the battery life is excellent. The zx series was a good unit though, yet more for a replacement desktop. The NC6000 is much lighter, even the charger is lighter than the ZX series. The one thing I liked about the zx series was the card reader though.

The nc6000 is definitely not a consumer product.
For corporate road-warriors or IT Directors with hundreds of computers to think about, the cross-platform OS imaging and compatible AC adaptors and port replicators make it an excellent choice for those companies that are already deeply invested in HP Compaq computers.
While they will play games and movies, they are not multimedia platforms by definition, and, therefore, do not gravitate to that arena.
You will notice, however, that business app benchmarks are some of the best-that is what it is made to do, and it does it well.
I am curious some one respond
