    The model number is d5-1155ee

    Specifications:

    Intel Core2 Duo 2.53 GHz.
    4 GB DDR2 RAM
    15.4” LCD
nVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 512 MB
    300 GB HDD
Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit

    What do you think??

And how does that nVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT compare to other graphics chisets?

And how come I only get a score of 5 in the Windows Performance rating??????? I thought I have a pretty decent system :(

I bought this laptop for $1600 USD

5 is really good. It's probably because your RAM is only DDR2, but the HP can support DDR3 I think. is your screen WSXGA or WXGA? The 9600 is one of the standards in the mainstream dedicated graphics card segment (I believe). It's a good card.

How would I know if it's a WSXGA or a WXGA?

Hey i have exactly the same laptop as yours... even though you bought it at a much more expensive price... I got it for 5250 Dhs... yes from UAE too :D... The video card is good... I got a 3Dmark06 score of 4577 before overclocking... after overclocking to 650/1600/565 clock i got 6016 score =D... Crysis can be played at medium settings smoothly most of the time before overclocking at 1024x768 resolution.. If you have any other questions i will be glad to help...!

DDR2 & DDR3 have very insignificant impacts on the Windows Experience Index (WEI), which is rated out of 5.9. I don't see how a dv5 can take both DDR2 and support DDR3, the DDR3 chips physically won't fit into the DDR2 RAM housings.

It's like that 0.9 points were lost as a result of windows feeling either your RAM, HDD or graphics memory is not enough (you can clarify for us exactly what each subsection's rating is). However, WEI, for the most part, is completely useless.

The Windows score isn't really the best indicator as it scales in an odd way and it the scale changes as time moves so if you have an older version of Windows, you might get a higher score with an old/less performing machine.

But yeah, a 5.0 Windows score is good, especially for a laptop ;D

The 9600M GT is a good mid-range card(one of the best mid-ranges and the most widespread on) and should be able ot handle most games and future games if you tweak them enough ^_^

As for the WSXGA or WXGA, he means the screen resolution. WXGA is 1200x800 and WSXGA is 1440x900 :)

    The HP has DDR3 slots and HP uses DDR2 because it's cheaper, I think I'm right on this but I really do need to check. WSXGA is 1680 x 1050, WXGA is 1280 x 800 or 1280 x 768, but on the HP's it's ... x 800. Also 1440 x 900 is WXGA +.

They won't physically fit lol how is that possible...they aren't interchangeable!? HPs own website says the dv5-1155ee only supports up to 8GB of DDR2 RAM.

i agree that you should of considered 64bit. With a t9400 it seems unbalanced to be limited to 3.5ish gb of ram.

But on the positive side i am pretty sure if you do a clean install of vista you can change it from 32 to 64bit. (correct me if i am wrong) look at the guide.
it is at the top of this forum
