Hi, this is my first post in this forum. Sorry for my english (if you find a mistake), but Im from Mexico and my english is not too good.[ :p]

I just wanted your advise. Here in Mexico the laptops are very expensive :( I currently have a dell inspiron 1150 (P4m 2.8ghz, 620 RAM, 30 GB...) but it is too heavy for me I take the laptop to my unversity everyday and my back is really suffering. So, I decided to buy a new computer and started to look the reviews in HP DV1000 and compaq V2000. I really like the style of them (Personally I liked the v2000), and I decided to look to office depot and OfficeMax (really there are not many places where you can find computers) but the price is just to expensive! its around $1,600 dlls the compaq V2010La (Celeron M 1.5, 40 Gb, 256mb ram, CDRW but no DVD-R) and the DV1015 is around $2,200 dlls!

So ok, I decided to buy it from outpost.com (Its the only page that I have found that sends internationally) but the Model V2000 is not available there, and the model DV1000 (I dont remember the exact model number) is not available for export!! so I am tired of looking because the prices increases because of the customs and taxes that we have to pay ( around 17% - 23%)

Ok I told my story and sorry about make it too long, but do you recomend me to buy the V2000 from officedepot (here in mexico) do you think that the celeron M really suffer a lot from performance? and in battery life? the DV1015 is just too expensive for me, but is the same if I buy it from the internet and the price is increased buecause the duties and all that stuff. Or should I stay with my dell 1150 and let my back suffers a little bit more? (just 1 year to graduate) Can I consider that the life of Celeron M will last like 2 years? Or do you know any other store that sends internationally that the prices are not just as high as outpost? ( I know eculidcomputers.com, but they only take AMEX and I only have VISA)

Thanks for reading me and all your time. I'll apreciate all your comments! Sorry for the long post![:0]

hey CiD, your English is fine, good job.

I know www.ecost.com ships to Canada from the U.S., but I'm not sure if they ship to Mexico. eCost is a good place to buy laptops at good prices.

You could also check out EBay.com for Power Sellers selling laptops internationally, look for seller with good ratings and that might already have experience shipping internationally. Send a seller a question asking them if they'll ship to Mexico, here's a link to a person selling dv1000 notebooks:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=31550&item=6737088063&rd=1

Also, instead of buying a new laptop, you could get one of those cases with wheels I've seen students using to take their books/laptops around campus. That way the ground takes the weight of the laptop and not your back!

Thanks Abaxter! I checked ecost.com and they only shipp to canada and US but they do accept international credit cards :(
I have my doubts with ebay.com, but I will look for a person who sends to here and have a good reputation. Abut the cases with wheels Its a good idea! Im going to check them in office depot and see how they works!

    Thanks again :D

I would avoid Ebay. Those prices are ridiculous, how can they charge so much? The Celeron M actually has better battery life than the Pentium M,
the battery life will be just fine.

I advise you to keep your old laptop.

Yes, I checked and Ebay has expensive notebooks and I cant see anybody that sends outside the US. I found this place www.clearanceclub.com does anybody knows anything about it? I see that some computers are remanufacturated but some of them are cheap!
