At least, this brings some reference number to us. 3:11 hr is not bad.

I had purchased a dv1000t from Costco about two months ago. When the dv2000 was announced, I decided to return my dv1000 to Costco, and get the dv2000.

    Picked up a dv2000t from Fry's yesterday, model dv2050us.

    Comes with
    1.73 Ghz duo processor
    2 MB ram
    120 GB hard drive
    Lightscribe DVD burner
    Remote control
    6 cell battery

When compared to the dv2000, the dv1000 looks blocking and also seems larger. I know they're both very similar in size, but because the dv2000 is tapered at it's front edge, and for whatever other reason, if you saw them side by side, you'd figure the dv1000 is larger and weights more (they weight basically the exact same)

Mouse buttons and speakers are a BIG improvement over it's older sib. Keyboard seems very similar to the older model, not up to IBM's standards, but not bad either.

HP did away with the small button used to eject your ExpressCard/Remote Control. Now, simply press the card/remote in, and it's spring loaded... and pops out! No ejection button.

This laptop really looks nice! I also like the latchless lid closure.

If you have any questions, let me know.

How much did your model cost? And I'm guessing it's 2GB Ram lol.

    Duuuhhhh... yeah, 2 GB Ram!

Cost $1350, less mail in rebate from HP of $50.

I had ordered from Costco, but I leave for a one week business trip tomorrow, someone mentioned that Fry's had them in stock, and I made the mistake of going to Fry's to check it out :) Really wanted to be able to take my new laptop on my trip!

This configuration is basically loaded, except it had 1.73 duo (guess you can get 2.0, maybe slightly faster), and only came with the 6 cell. I'll have to pick up a 12 cell. I have the 12 cell with my dv1000t, but it is going back with the laptop. Really love the 12 cell battery! Thing runs and runs... I've gotten over 7 hours of use, just fooling around, ripping mp3's, browsing the internet, sending e-mail, etc.

Otherwise, it has the ligthscribe (which frankly, I wasn't planning to pay for), the remote, larger hard drive then Costco offered....

Are these made just for fry's stores because I don't see a 1.73 Ghz duo on hp's web site, also does it come with windows home or pro?

Yea, there's no such thing as a 1.73Ghz Core Duo. It goes from 1.66 to 1.83.

Hmm...actually there just might be a 1.73GHz Core Duo. It may be an HP only OEM part...

A search for this(430455-001) part number at HP's Parts site revealed this( http://partsurfer.hp.com/cgi-bin/spi/main)

    430455-001 Processor : Intel Core Duo T2250 processor - 1.73GHz, 2x1Mb cache, 667FSB

I believe the T2250 is actually a 533 MHz FSB part just like the T2350 has a 533MHz FSB. I saw a T2350 Core Duo advertised on a website for less money than the T2300. When I investigated why it turned out it was due to the slower FSB. The T2300, T2300E, T2400, T2500, etc. all have a 667 MHz frontside bus.

    You're right, it's 533 Mhz FSB.

In day to day use, I haven't really noticed any difference between my older dv1000t, which had 1.83 with the 667 Mhz frontside bus and my new dv2000t. Photoshop, which is the program which generally takes the longest to load, loads as fast on the new machine as it did on my old dv1000t.

The new machine has 2G of ram, compared to the 1G of Ram on the older machine, not sure if that helps....either way, they both seem very fast.
