Upon starting up I quickly inspected the screen and there were no dead pixels. Thank God! I did ask OD when I picked up the laptop what would happen if there was a defect and they said you had 14 days to bring it back.

The machine is awesome. The screen is freakin' amazing. Try using a 12.1" screen on an iBook for 3 years and then just switch to this. Unbelievable. Nice and fast too.

    Build quality is good too.

I haven't had much time to play around with it too much. I'll post back an update later on.

Hope you all enjoy your purchases.

Well, so far all is well. The only gripe I have right now is the optical drive. I'm installing some drivers from a CD and the door makes a loud rattling sound when the CD is spinning. The sound goes away when I press againt the door of the drive.

Anybody run across this problem with any of their notebooks? If so, how did you resolve it? [?]

I wish I knew but unfortunately I have no answer. I was told you have 14 days store warranty. Call and check with your local OD and let us know what they say.

    Thanks.

They probably just refund your purchase & be done with it...I doubt they'll care to fix a laptop for a small number of dead pixels (Just a guess)

I received my laptop yesterday. The shipping is very fast and well packaged. The laptop came with software/drivers restoration CDs which is very good.

    1) Screen: I've got no dead pixel. The brightscreen is very nice, not as glossy as Sony or Toshiba. It worths to upgrade. I think I saw only the brightness controll function on keyboard but not the contrast control.
    2) Speakers: They are not H/K and the sound is bad. If you care about laptop speakers, this model is not the one for you. HP should upgrade the speakers since the cost difference won't be much for users. I played a DVD music video and had to turn the volume to max.
    3) CPU: I ran CPU-Z and it reported Newscastle (130nm), Athlon64 3500+ . Anybody got 90nm Athlon? I've heard the Athlon64 3200+ is 90nm, is it true?
    4) Memmory: 2*512M PC2700
    5) Battery: I ordered 12 cell pack but I could'n find any number on the battery indicating it is a 12 cell. The serial model is HSTNN-IB04 and 14.8V--6.6AHr. Can anybody tell me the difference between 8-cell and 12 cell battery pack? Thanks.
    6) Wireless network: You must have wireless nowadays. I love mine. I just clicked on the wireless icon at the right bottom, it detected mine network and my neighbor's easily. I don't know after I format drive and install WinXP PRO, do I need to install any software or just the wireless driver to get this function back? However, while I'm downloading from internet, I closed the laptop and it put my laptop to sleep mode immediately and all downloads were stopped. I need to figure out how to change this since I need to download overnight sometimes. By the way, I don't like the stick to detect the screen is closed or not. They should hide it somewhere else.
    7) 6-in-1 card reader: I saw only 1 slot so all cards can fit in there?
I didn't have enough time to play with my toy yet but I believe its performance is good the quality is high (except speakers). Sorry for anyone got dead pixels[V]. Yes, HP can provide a quality product at a low price. Thanks OD for their awsome price too.

Thanks Billipo, I'll change to "do nothing". You're right. It should be 0.13 micron. I didn't fully charge the 12 cell battery last night and I could surf wireless internet for 2 hours before the battery icon turned red.

How did you guys get your laptop so fast? I ordered mine from office depot too on the 16th, I believe, the last day that the promotion was on and it has been three weeks and my status is "still processing". I called techdepot and they said my shipment will leave tomorrow May 10, officially 24 days from date of order. That's three weeks already, and itll take another week to come here, making it a month. Boy, I should have ordered it earlier...

I order my ZV6000cto from the HP website on the 9th of june and recieved it on the 20th, tracked it all the way from Shanghi China wow............. Haven't had much time to play with it yet but I like the bright view screen. The machine seems solid enough and of course the blue lights are a kick. The labels are nice also, I also ordered the 12 cell battery but as already been stated I too don't know if it is a 12 cell or not, just from looking at the battery! I checked out the F14 bios and don't like what I see there. Doesn't look like the user has many or almost no choise's there! (hate pheonix bios)
Anyway I like it so far, for what I paid for it and all it offered I'm satisfied....................[ :)]
