I have 1 unknown device left over from a clean Vista installation..

I downloaded and installed whatever Vista drivers HP had for my laptop (tx1000z model).

And yet there's still 1 last unknown device leftover..

Everything that I can think of off the top of my head is working on the laptop as of now.. Webcam, fingerprint, network, wifi, bt, etc.etc.

Is there something underlying that needs to be installed.. basically im hoping someone else ran into this problem and figured out what it is.

Anyways, if anybody has any ideas i'll be very appreciative!

    Thanks,

    Jay

Could you post a screenshot of the Device Manager showing the unknown device?

    Here's the screenshot..

QuickPlay application is already installed.. that didn't help.. I'm assuming Quickplay includes the drivers for the Quickbuttons around the screen, right? Otherwise that might be what im leaving out.

Let me know what you think!

Hardware ID on unknown device is reporting a HPQ0006.. I doubt that helps anything though.

I was able to search around and found out that HPQ0006 is indeed the quicklaunch BUTTONS.. Nice.. Now where can I download the drivers? They aren't on HP.com for the tx1000z laptop.

I'm not sure about the TX1000Z, but on my DV6000Z, QuickButton drivers are separate (about 15MB).

Also, I think the TX has 2 IR ports.

    And what about card reader?

I'm out of ideas if it's none of those. :(

edit: woops im a slow typer :)

its the Ricoh drivers for your card reader. I know its installed in Vista but you need to install the HP drivers and update the Vista drivers. After you update and reboot that unknown device will go away.

No, actually the unknown device went away after I installed the Quicklaunch buttons drivers/software. The Ricoh card reader drivers were installed by Windows Update in Vista automatically. Although I appreciate you helping me get to the bottom of it! ;)
