There's a 177.79 driver from downoads.guru3d.com which I can install on my DV7T which has a 9600m GT.
Why should I get seemingly older drivers from laptopvideo2go? Are the drivers there specially made for laptop GPU's? Are the ones from guru3d (supposedly for desktops) going to hinder my laptop's gpu's performance?

The 'desktop' drivers do not have the necessary modifications to allow it to install on a mobile computer. LaptopVideo2Go basically takes those drivers from nVidia and Guru3D and alters the INF files as needed to get it to install on notebooks. They can only do so much, I imagine, which is why they might seem 'old.'

How can you explain that I have 177.70 desktop drivers installed on my laptop?
I'm not trying to degrade laptopvideo2go, I'm just asking, which is better to use? Should I use 177.70 from guru3d, or the old 160's from laptopvideo2go? -
laptopvideo2go has the 17x.xx series also. you just need to go to the community forums and etc.
here is the link to the 177.xx drivers
