...a 3-Yr At-Home Accidental Protection Warranty for my nc8430. I hope I never have to use it, but after reading the Warranty Guide and thinking about how a down laptop would devastate my college work I figured it would be worth it if I needed to call it in.

BTW, nc8430 comes with 3-Yr Mail-In as standard. I basically got a features update.

$249 for a notebook that cost me more than 2k...

Ummm, night, doesn't the business warranty cover accidents? I swear, my nx9420 said something about covering accidents under normal usage.

Though I have no idea what normal usage is...

It comes with 3/3/0 Year WorldWide Limited Warranty (3 Yr Parts/3 Yr Labor/0 Yr ADP) as standard. Also, during the configuration stage I originally selected no additional warranty options (whereas the website and reps start out with additional next day service for $129 more).

I cheaped out on the first $129, knowing that I would have to drop more (later) if I upgraded the warranty. Had I gotten that option I would have paid double (so to speak).

Nope...my computer came with 3 Yr Mail In (confirmed thought the Business Support Center).

Good news: I purchased the pack yesterday, and registered it today (12/4/06). Now (according to the warranty status) it is covered until 12/3/09!

I bet you're gonna want a new computer by '09.

Personally, I hope so...but I don't graduate until 05/09 and I think this computer will last until then. After that I'm either in grad school or working.

Get a 2Yr (which I don't think you can on an nc8430) and it'll end early.

i bought the 3 year (2 year extension) for my nx9420 in November and they told me it will expire in August '09. They did it from my notebook purchase date and not the pack purchase date, wah
