I just bought new laptop Advice needed

Hi guys,

Well I just bought my first ever laptop, its compaq presario V6155EA. I have a few questions and suggestions needed from you notebook experts.

First of all what are the most important things to do when you buy a new laptop? Like I have already made the necessary recovery disks, what other things couldd be important before reconfiguring the system etc?

Another thing is that windows XP media center is installed in this laptop, but when I turn on the computer it takes more time than expected to load windows, I mean I turn on the computer, everything goes fine, the windows launching sound gets played, the background of the desktop displayed but the it takes more than a minute or maybe 2 to load down the icons and display the desktop. What do you think could be the reason? I have 1 month to test the computer and within this month I can return it if I am not satisfied.

Any kind of help and answere would be appreciated.
