I'm not gonna be gaming much on this, but my 1st question is:

    1. overall how's the heat? will it get hot? i usually have my laptop on all day until i go to sleep with my IM and browser on so would it get hot by that?

    2. How's the sound do i need to tweak the sound settings? If so could someone show me a screen shot of what the setting you recommend to get something of good quality.

    3. How's the mouse pad on this? is the touch responsive?

    4. How do i update my drivers? does HP have anything?

I'm looking forward to my new laptop :D

    1. The 3rd gen Ivy Bridge processor runs hot. It would be advisable to use a laptop cooler. Temps will settle down after a couple weeks use, and mine rarely hit 90 C now even after extended periods of gaming.

    2. Some people have had some issues with the Beats audio leveling. An alternative option to the Beats audio is SRS Audio. You can find threads about this in the forums here. I personally haven't had any issues with Beats Audio leveling on my system, and like the audio quality on my dv7tqe a lot. Its a huge improvement from the Dell XPS it replaced

    3. The touchpad on mine is fine, but does take some getting used to. Its responsiveness is different than my previous Dell XPS.

    4. The HP Support Assistant application will automatically download and install driver updates for you. The HP Support Assistant will only handle drivers available through HP however. Driver updates from any other source can still be downloaded and installed manually.

Good luck with your new system.

Maybe refer to the drive thread?

You can also use the driver page for dv6t, but I found it updating a bit slower.

It depends on the time of the year I guess. But mine arrived 4 days early. It was in production for 5 business days or so.
