    Well in this thread me and fizzleation argued about the possibility of Vista being offered free with purchase a computer in late Q4. He said no, never gonna happen because MS being a Monopoly. I said they will give it for free.

    I remember when XP first came out and stupid me when out and bought it. Call me in 6 months when they have support for it and they fix the bugs.....No beta tester for me this time.

    What do you mean by free? The laptop company will pass on the cost of Vista onto the consumer.

    of course i know that, but the point im trying to make is you can purchase a computer with windows XP now and get a copy of vista in the mail later on, with no added cost. More than likely the prices arent gonna change, Microsoft knows people are waiting for vista, if they dont do this program, sales of PC will go down, and every sale of a PC MS makes money. So selling a copy of xp now and getting the cash asap is better than having consumer wait for vista preinstalled machines.

    I like how they don't mention WHAT version of Vista it will be. It's very very very unlikely they will be giving away free upgrade coupons to Vista Ultimate ;)
