I'm attempting a BV -> Radiance conversion. I have the actual panel with me right here. However, the cable is too short and the casing of the screen doesn't fit. Also, I'm getting white lines down the display because the cable isn't right. 1600x900 is great

Does anybody have a cracked radiance that they do not need? I can pay for it, as long as it's not too outrageous (<60$ with shipping)

Please help me out if you have one :D

edit: I mainly need the cable.

I am glad that I simply bought an Envy 17. The things you 14 folk and prospective 14 folks have gone through with the Radiance screen.

^ Not too productive a comment?

I personally enjoy my 14, as the form factor is perfect (would really love to have a 13, but a few key things prevented me from getting it). Either way, I'm happy with my radiance and 4+ hour battery life, all while being able to carry it whenever and wherever I wish.

I think you took the comment a bit more seriously than I intended it. Too, I never suggested that Radiance was undesirable. On the contrary, I expressed comfort that I did not have to go through what some have gone through to get one or replace one, which, as I am sure you have noticed, has been stressful for some around here. Nothing more. Definitely not an attack on the Envy 14, which is the interpretation I get from your defense of the computer. By the time I bought my computer, Radiance was a memory. As you can see, I unwittingly found my way to a high-res screen without waiting for Radiance to reappear or going to great lengths to install one (in one case on a Beats edition computer that wouldn't fit it). But to be honest with you, I actually think the 14's lower-res screen looks good, and I've said it before. I have never seen Radiance in person, but I'd love to.

I agree, actually. I LOVE my Radiance display, but I'm not 100% sure it's worth all of the pain and suffering.

For example, my original Envy 14 had a few stuck pixels. I sent it back for repairs, and they damaged the laptop in the process. I had to fight to get a new laptop shipped from HP (though their Envy support line is EXCELLENT, by the way), and I had to really fight to get a Radiance screen. These days, aside from a repair (which again, may end up damaging the computer), I'd probably be SOL.

Furthermore, I'm always worried about other people spilling something on my computer, moving it and dropping it, etc. I literally can't get one just like it anymore, and I don't want to settle for less.

Overall, I absolutely love the thing. I just wish it was a common part so I didn't have to worry so much.

I was curious if you ever found a place to buy the correct cable? I was thinking about doing the conversion as well but I'm not sure what cable to get.

It looks like it's a custom cable (carries webcam + microphone, display, and HP light all in one).

I'm just going to wait for a broken radiance computer to go on ebay, it might take a while, but I suppose it's worth it.

Edit: cool, NBR auto-links to ebay
