I have been in email communications with HP for about a week now regarding SPDIF Digital Audio out using the multi function headphone jack. No matter what I do I can't get any SPDIF optical out from the Headphone jack(s). This is a higher end 9700t with Blu-ray player, HDMI out dual HDD's and Realtek Digital Audio software and drivers. The 9700t replaced and was configured by an HP Case manager to replace a very problematic DV9260nr with I had verified, did pass optical digital audio. Now the HP email tech support is saying that thay want a picture of the front of the computer showing the microphone jack and two headphone jacks. They are indicating that it may not have been built to include SPDIF optical out.
Is this possible, to configure a laptop with the above mentioned setup and NOT have digital audio out.
I have gone through many tests to determine that I don't get Digital Audio out. Does anyone else have a DV9700t and if so have you tried to get Digital audio (DVD on Blu-ray DVD) to work. Also does it have an indicator aboe the headphone jack that says SPDIF.

I have been able to get the HDMI Video and Audio to work on my RPTV which has an HDMI input.
My question, has anyone run the HDMI output to an HDMI A/V equited receiver? On a standard DVD or Blu-ray movie? Have you been able to get video and full Dolby Digital in 5.1 or 7.1 audio. My older Pre/Pro doesn't have an hdmi input and my 9700t doesn't output SPDIF audio. -
Same question. My receiver doesn't have HDMI inputs. I wonder if there's an adapter for the HDMI port that separates out the digital audio stream and allows you to connect it to a SPDIF-enabled device coaxially. (i.e. using an RCA jack).

Has anyone found a solution for this? I hate bumping threads ... but *bump*
I need some help please - DV9700t
