Okay, so I have been annoyed by this problem ever since getting my laptop.

I have an hp dv7-4069wm, windows 7 (64 bit) phenom II n830 processor (3 cores) and I have switchable graphics.

My two cards are Mobility HD 4200 and the Mobility HD 5470. Here lies the problem, I've been playing a new game (FFXIV) which my 5470 can run but would be nice to have some more fps, AMD recently released a graphics driver with improvements for that game (huge gains in fps for people who can download them)

The drivers would be the 13.8 and the 13.10 (I heard both of these have the improvements, no idea about the 13.9)

However, the newest driver supports my 5470 but not my 4200 series, I cannot install it due to the switchable graphics. (I tried modding the drivers to allow me to install (Which did work, however they didn't really run and the 4200 ran into issues when I did this) however I ran into issues with my 4200 not being compatible and had to revert yet again)

When I try to manually update only the 5470 the 4200 also gets the updated drivers (for some reason)

I tried to download the newest bios (I heard that some laptops recieved a bios update to disable switchable graphics and only use the dedicated card) unfortunately it didn't have the option.

I've done quite a few more things with no more luck, if I could set it to only use my dedicated card so I could update that card ALONE then I feel as though alot of my problems would be fixed. I hope some of you can help me.

This has been a problem I've had for a long time, and now I am almost determined to fix it, if at all possible.. I appreciate your help.

Did you try to contact HP support first? Tell me did you see any real factor changes? If not I would stay with a more stable release instead. If 13.9 doesn't show up a release but beta then I would say don't use the beta unless your doing it for testing purpose. Stay with the release as those are the stable version and as you notice betas are not well liked in laptop if it isn't ready for prime time.
