    hey guys~

i ordered my dv2000z and it just shipped today. I've never written a review before, but i want to as this site has helped me a lot. Please give me some suggestions for the type of tests that i need to do ~

    Here are the specs:

    - Genuine Windows XP Professional
    - AMD Turion(TM) 64 X2 Mobile TL-52 (1.60GHz/512KB)
    - 14.1" WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280x800)
    - NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 6150
    - 2.0GB DDR2 SDRAM (2x1024MB)
    - 100 GB 5400 RPM Serial ATA Hard Drive
    - Super Multi 8X DVD+/-R/RW w/Double Layer Support
    - 802.11a/b/g WLAN
    - Extra 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    - Microsoft(R) Works/Money
    - Genuine Windows XP Professional Backup CD

I opted not to get Lightscribe becuase wikipedia said it was only monochromatic (grey etching an a gold sufrace) and i like to print out my labels in full color w/ complicated graphics...

I am regretting not getting bluetooth now, but i still don't have any bluetooth devices so i really don't need it. it was only $10 more from what i have now and i should've gotten it "just in case"...

I bought this laptop w/ my APP account. If you are a student i HIGHLY recommend getting your HP profile set to an APP profile. I thikn that you can ONLY use the disccount in the Home section... you can't buy buisness class i dun think. Before i knew about APP (i was chattin' w/ this hp's sales rep.. she was really good and energetic o_O, i mentiond school and she was like u should get app ...) I customized at CostCo and HP and CostCo was 30$ cheaper but no free printer..

    Why dv2000z and not dv2000t?

Well... i personally have this thing w/ Intel... so i didn't want to get the duo from the start. (however after reading some reviews of the Turion, the intel seems to be faster but i won't really need to play games or do most of the stuff in the thoose benchmarks.) The AMD came out cheaper for me as well.
I think that this processor is good enough for me and it is still pretty powerfull. (I also wanted to be diff than all the other UGLY *cough* dell *cough* intel duo laptops at school..) Also, the "z" came w/ a better GPU.

    Why the dv2000 series...?

After looking at tons of pics... from hp's site to a korean web page ( www.noteuser.com good pics, but it's in korean haha ^^ just search for dv2000 on the right side of the page), the stylishness of the laptop heavily sold me. I looked at my friend's Dell Inspiron ... and it was just... ugly and bulky looking to me. I liked the inlaid pattern and shiny quality ... although i'll get fingerprints i don't care. I liked the color scheme of the HP better than the Compaq v3000 so i didn't go w/ compaq. When i was shopping for a laptop i need a lightweight, powerful, and good priced laptop. This model met all my specifications and gave me more in style. W/ it being about 5.4lbs after doing the metric conversion from this korean site (2425g i think) i really wanted this computer. Sony's and Apple's were out of my price range, and i didn't like ASUS for some reason o_O (i like their mother boards though)

My laptop should arrive on the 6th, but if you want a review give me some things to look for when i review (like what is leakage... blah blah blah)

Overall, I am happy w/ my purchase. I can't wait for it to come!

If your order is not processed I can't see why you couldn't get a hold of HP and tell them you want to add BT. Even so no big deal as you can always get a USB or PC Card BT device later if you find out you really need one. Looking forward to a review.

I guess all of the ML-60s are going to the nx6325 as I haven't seen them listed for any of HP/Compaq's consumer notebooks, nothing above ML-52 so far.

If it's scheduled to arrive on the 6th, I'd say it's definitely processed. I ordered a dv2000z and mine is scheduled for the same delivery date, and was shipped out from China yesterday. According to FedEx, it just left Alaska, and I am getting pretty anxious... though I still haven't even figured out if I am going to attempt to swap out the OS for Windows MCE yet.

Are you in Mexico? If so, they probably wouldn't ship there.

Yes I live in Mexico but I have address in U.S. too. And the problem was solved, it was only a issue from the bank to prevent frauds.

The other problem is that I will not have warranty in Mexico I hope never need it...

Have someone any time used the warranty, of your HP notebook?

I think HP and Toshiba have international coverage even with the standard warranty, while Dell provides it only with 3+ years warranty.

YAY my laptop came a day early!

    quick notes:

the laptop is SEXY AS HELL! it's soo cool looking!
Screen: love it! (there might be a little leakge? i am not sure someone define leakage for me)

i do get finger prints on it but like the cloth they gave helps me a lot.

right now i am making recovry dvds.. omg 3! dvds!... and removing the GLOBS of bloat ware...

i'm going to install Photoshop CS on it and i wonder how well it will perform

i'll do a review and pics later

My dv2000Z arrived this morning, a day ahead of schedule as well! Kind of a busy day for me today, so I haven't spent a ton of quality time with it yet, but I definitely dig it. The build quality is excellent all around, and the design is simply beautiful. I haven't noticed any problems with fingerprints, or the smooth touchpad yet at all. I don't tend to have very clammy hands though, so that may be helping. My only cursory complaint with the build is that the mouse buttons definitely feel a bit loose and cheap, especially compared to how solid everything else is. I love the keyboard though, and I haven't encountered any of the problems I had with the dv5000 I briefly owned (fingertips actually sliding underneath the keys as I type, and keys not even responding, or getting stuck).

ps: Cisbrane, please let us know how CS performs! I am a graphic designer and I do most of my work on a desktop, but I am considering installing CS on my dv2000 as well, so I can work mobile.

Pleas could you install any 3D game like Doom3 and tell us how it performs?
What is your opinion about the WiFi and the weight with the 12 cell battery?
    Thanks!

I have the dv2000t, and I can tell you that Photoshop CS2 works great. I use Rawshooter to convert my raw files from my digital camera, then I have RawShooter automatically open Photoshop to further tweek my photos.

On my older laptop, it took forever just to launch Photoshop after converting the first image... I'm talking about 45 seconds to a minute.

With my new machine, Photoshop CS2 launches in about 10-15 seconds, and all operations are blazingly fast... I'm sure the 2-1.24MB sticks of Ram that I have installed don't hurt, but the duo core is noticably faster then my older 1.8Mhz machine!

i agree the mouse buttons are not that great but the touch pad is nice and the keyboard is nice too. one of my favorite ones. there is some flex in certain areas but you have ot press pretty hard to get the flex. i will never need to push that hard just to type. once i remove bloatware i'll do some benchmakrs but don't expectthereview for a few days.

I watched a movie, burned a dvd, and did some web browsing with my dv2000t, and got 2 hours 40 minutes use before the battery was pretty much dead. Could possibly squeeze a few minutes more if I would turn off wifi.

Not great. May need to spring for the 12 cell.

What is your battery score? Have you update or install AMD PowerNow driver and all necessary patch from AMD web site? Are you running full speed all the time? Please detail your condition and scores.

Then how long will your battery last from 100% to 3%? You probably need to update AMD Dual-Core Optimizer. It is a new driver. Some reporters say it can "fuse" two core into single core virtually. But I don't know how well it perform. Intel Core Duo also has similar feature.
