    I turn on my laptop and all the lights come on, but the screen is black and there is no sound.

    hi i have a hp dv2000 laptop that doesn't turn on, only the lights turn on. there is no sounds. nothing else runs PLEASE HELP

    Take out the RAM and put it back. Sometime the modules get slightly look and badly seated RAM gives the symptoms you describe.

    If that doesn't work and you have two modules, try each in turn.

    I had this problem on my dv9700t, I just pulled out the battery and unplugged the AC power for about 5 minutes and it worked again.

    sorry i could not respond back. well i check to see if the ram was loose and it was secure. is there anything else i can do? the last thing i want to do is to deal with their customer service
