My notebook's original 1 year warranty (Pavilion DV6000t) is about to expire in about a month. And I want to extend it for 2 additional years. Anyone have any idea on how much it costs and is it worth it to extend it to for 2 additional years or is maybe 1 additonal year enough?

Give HP a call and they'll be able to give you all the prices. You can always go and look on their website and you'll be able to find out all the info you need about their different warranties and prices.

Based on my personal experience with a HP L2000 (V2000Z) and the numerous comments about failures posted here at NBR, I'd guess that you have a better than 50/50 chance that you'll experience some sort failure within the first 18-24 months. My L2000 was perfect for the first year, was well care for, seldom removed from the house, and began to fall apart just after the first year of ownership. I'm very glad I decided on the extended warranty because HP just replaced the unit with a new DV2000tv and provided an additional ADP 3 year warranty at no charge.

I'm not one who usually ever considers extended warranties, but in the case of notebooks, I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that itÂ’s almost a necessity (JMO). You can get further HP warranty info & pricing here (and don't forget about Academic pricing if you're eligible):

Also, you may want to check and see if your unit is listed in the HP service enhancement program (recall) ; )

I'm looking at buying my HP from Costco.com. You can customize it, just like on HP's website, they have a 90 day return policy and they extend the warranty to 2 years at no extra charge.

What is the difference between pick up and return extended service plan and accidental damage plan and does one contain the another, means if I get ADP plan and have something wrong with my system without any physical damage, would they still help me out???

and since I am a student, can I be eligible for special pricing for extended warranty plan??
