I've always thought the SE editions were really cool...

I'm just wondering, does anyone know how long after the original release of a laptop that the SE edition comes out?

Like, just looking at past patterns, when would a dv5tse come out?

    All help is much appreciated!

As a general rule of thumb...

    1) Initial press release about model series
    2) 3 month later - final detailed specs released
    3) 2 Weeks to a Month later - Initial pre-configured models go on sale and ship
    4) 1 month later - custom configured models go on sale
    5) 1 to 2 month(s) later - Special editions released.
    6) 1 to 3 month(s) later - Clearance begins on first models sold
    7) Cycle repeats

To try to more directly answer your question, special editions are generally used as a way to put life back into a product when sales from the initial purchased units begins to slow as cheaply as possible to maximize profit margin and revenue. Because of this, it is hard to give an exact time frame of when there will be a special edition of the new dv5 series laptops released. If history holds any truth, which it usually does, the last design and models went a good deal of time before the first special editions started popping up. If my memory serves me right, it was about 6 months after the initial launch at the first fiscal quarter of this year that I saw the first special editions available for sale at my local Best Buy.

My best offer at a guess would rely heavily on how well the launch of the new dv5 series goes. I would say that if you did not see or hear a definite source of information about a special edition by mid to late October at the latest, then don't expect one until the beginning of the new year. Computer companies, unlike the video game and or toy industry, do not do as well waiting until the last minute to launch a notebook on consumers. Most of the time consumers want to do research before making a big purchase such as a notebook and that includes extensive reading of reviews. If they don't release your product in enough time to allow prominent forms of publication access to it to review and inform the masses that it not only exists, but whether it is either good or bad as well, then you are darn near crazy to think that everyone will go running out to buy your product come its late launch date.

And just like that, the SE edition is here! It looks really nice with the whole nature theme, although it's really expensive compared to the regular dv5 for its abilities.

And it's kind of confusing, because they state that all these accessories are available (themes mouse, bag) but then you can't actually buy them, so wth

    But yeah, pretty cool
