So yesterday, whilst doing a bit of maintenance on my Envy 14 (1st Gen) I stupidly managed to partially tear the small ribbon that connects to the motherboard :( and now the backlight doesn't work (obviously). I've emailed round a few resellers that were listed on the HP website (I'm from the UK) and all of them have told me that replacement keyboards are no longer available for my model (HP Envy 14 1050ea), nightmare!

Does anyone know where i'll be able to get hold of a replacement ribbon and/or keyboard?

    Please and thanking you :)

I replaced the keyboard ribbon in my Envy 15-1100 by purchasing a used model from craigslist. Someone was selling the same exact model. At the time I thought I would have to replace the entire keyboard, but it turned out it was only the ribbon.

You might want to try to contact HP directly to inquire about obtaining the part. They have lots of parts in stock from older laptops.
