    INtel x3100 and HDMI port

    Does the new Intel x3100 graphica card has both HDMI and VGA ports?

    Nope, only discrete cards have HDMI in Pavilion notebooks. All notebooks have VGA.

    is this the case with HP pavilion only or any laptop with Intel X3100 card

    The x3100 isn't really a card; it's a chip on the motherboard.
    I don't think there's any problem connecting it to an HDMI port if the manufacturer wants to do that.
    Dell says their XPS M1330 has HDMI, and I don't see anything about it requiring the dedicated graphics option. Similarly, Apple connects the older GMA 950 to a Mini-DVI port on the Macbook. So there must be some sort of digital signal output on these chips.

    So while buying a laptop how to find out if it has a HDMI port, because normally they advertise about graphics card like intel or nvidia but donot mention available ports. Also, if I'm getting a system with just a DVD drive and not HDDVD or Blueray drive, then do I still need to have HDMI port or just VGA is enough. I mean without a HD drive is there any other use of HDMI port in place of VGA.
