Hi everyone, this problem has been bugging me for a week now and after exhausting all possibilites i have decided to turn to this forum. Hope some kind soul is able to help me out here.

I've recently gotten a hp dv5-1007tx. It apparently comes with a IR remote control which suppossedly works with windows media centre in windows vista (which the laptop came installed with) but i can't seem to get it to work.

i have tried searching for the program to activate IR ( in control panel) but can't find even though the device manager says that the "ENE CIR receiver" is working properly.

is anyone having the similar problem? i'm having the slight feeling that maybe it doesn't work with windows vista home premium can someone verify this?

on a side, does the dv5-1007tx come with a tv tuner? it apparently says so on the specs but i cant seem to locate it.WMC says no tv tuner can be found either...

    cheers

    1) check the battery is installed correctly. alot of people put it in the wrong way

    2) the IRDA driver is bundled with the quicklaunch button driver try a reinstall, this worked for me.

Why don't you see if you have a TV turner module just 2 screws to check?

I too thought TV was included on the 1007tx( the stickers on the store display were a bit misleading) it wasn't until i got home i found out there was no tv. ( got a $30 usb tuner on ebay - works perfect)

As for the remote, mine only works 50% of the time, I have given up using it. (it works in vista, and media centre) But i think its just a crap remote.

hmm tried reinstalling the drivers but nothing happens....
this might sound like a dumb question..but how do you enable IR in vista? is there an icon in the control panel or the taskbar which allows you to do so?

for those of you whose remotes are working? did you have to set them up or just press any random button on the remote and media ctr would respond?
