Is there an infrared remote produced by HP or an aftermarket company that can be programmed for multimedia programs (i.e. PowerDVD, Winamp, etc.)?
There are probably other peripheral devices (i.e. PDA's, Blackberries, Powerpoint remotes, etc.) that use the IR port on the NC/NX notebooks, but what I'm really interested in is if there is a way to control multimedia programs with some sort of an IR remote.
Has anybody used the IR port on their NC/NX notebook for this purpose?
I hook up my notebook to my TV and sound system to watch movies on a regular basis, but everytime I have to pause, rewind, fastforward, etc., I have to get up.
I know that some HP notebooks come with multimedia remotes, that I assume use IR. Are those remotes compatible with the NC/NX notebooks, and can the remotes be purchased separately?

The remote that I purchased with my Pavillion does control Winamp and DVD players. I can also use it to show Powerpoint presentations.
Not sure if they work with other HP models. The computer needs to have a receiver built into it.
It is a very convenient accessory. Love being able to control Windows Media Player while listening to music, and not having to run over to my laptop to pause, skip to another song, adjust volume, etc.
My guess would be if HP doesn't sell the remotes with those models, they probably won't work. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
