I have a Compaq Presario R4000 notebook computer. I was wondering if I can run Windows Vista and use Blu-ray by upgraging. Is my chipset ready for it?

Nope. Blu-ray video playback requires much more firepower. Merely reading BD-R data discs would work though. I think you have a good excuse to upgrade to a dv5z.
