    Hi folks,

I recently had a burglary and the jerks stole my HP laptop. Unfortunately I never noted down the model number of my HP laptop, and my insurance company won't go any further until I can tell them what model it was. I still have the power brick (model 384019-002) and the laptop is very similar to this one:

...except that the wifi/volume buttons were dark with blue LEDs (not silver as in the photo), the headphone/microphone jacks were in the middle (not right of the middle, as shown at the bottom of the photo), and where the "Compaq" logo is there was a webcam instead. It definitely had a square power button like the above photo.

Any idea what model I had? It looks almost identical to the photo aside from the things I've mentioned above.

(that I'm an idiot for not keeping the boxes or paperwork is a given... infact last year I adapted a good system for keeping track of this stuff but it was too late)

Beyond it probably being a Compaq V3000 series I can't think of any way to divine a specific retail model number. For your purposes precision may not be needed. They should be able to take Compaq V3000 and go from there. If you happen to remember the specific CPU it had you could try to match it to a specific V3000 series model?

Thanks for considering my dilemma. I kept searching for the Compaq V3000 and after scouring several hundred photos I turned up a model that looks like mine :)

I think it was a Compaq Presario HP B1256TU.

paid for via credit card? You'd be real surprised to see how far back credit card statements can be retrieved.

depending on the screen size what you were describing is the dv6000/dv6500/dv6700 for the 15.4inch or the dv9000/dv9500/dv9700 for the 17inch. if the keyboard is same as the picture then it is the 15.4inch.

there is a smaller version the dv2000/dv2500/dv2700, i think the screen size was 12.

    ...

There is no Compaq Pavilion dv2000 series. And the dv2000 does not have a square power button, it's very narrow.
