I've recently bought my HP DV6-7204se laptop from the shop a couple of weeks ago.
But since the last week, my laptop has been giving quite some annoying problems. Like the headphones jack wouldn't work, (but the speakers would) even after enabling communication headphones and everything. Also after using factory recovery (multiple times), the problem would still persist. I gave it to the service center and got it resolved, but the problem came back again in a few days. So then, I did the recovery again tens of times, uninstalled and reinstalled the audio drivers only to end with another problem after my headphones jack worked again. The coolsense and 3d driveguard did not work anymore, so had to individually uninstall and reinstall their drivers again and use the factory recovery again and again.
Finally, in the end, everything worked perfectly. But after an hour of use, the screen flickered a couple of times after which the wifi turned itself off and the capslock key started blinking. (which according to the internet is a possible hardware issue) This would keep on happening after an hour of use, even after using the factory recovery AGAIN. :/
Now if it were a hardware problem, and the motherboard was to be changed, can I replace it with the motherboard of HP DV6-7214nr? It has a 650m DDR5 graphics card, which is quite a huge plus. And comparing all the specifications of chipset and everything, GPU is the only thing different. The spare part no. of my DV6-7204se is 682170-001 and that of DV6-7214nr is 682174-001.
In other words, I would like to replace my motherboard 682170-001 with 682174-001. I wish to know if that would work or present with another problem.
    Thank you,

I would not advise replacing your laptop motherboard with any other part number other than the exact one currently in your machine. Although they look similar for the most part, you would just be causing problems for yourself down the line.

Your machine was made and setup to support only the motherboard that it came with... even if the upgraded motherboard is identical in shape and only 1 detail off - your laptop was made only to support the PN identical to the one that came inside only.

A slight difference (increase in your case) in the GPU effects much more than you would think. Your machine would run hot always, slowly cause damage to multiple points on the board. You would now be using the wrong heatsink and fan on your GPU to keep it running at a optimized temperature which in turn would eventually damage the higher spec motherboard since the parts used were not made to support the heat and setup as your original board would.

From experience, you will save much more money just putting the same PN you had and you won't have to worry about damaging your machine, overheating, running the machine at full load causing the inside to melt and damage the laptop for good.

I have replaced over 500 hp motherboards just within the past few years and they all are part # specific and it will cause more damage (possibly even start a fire) and so many more things that could happen. I am writing this just to help prevent any additional problems you would most likely encounter by swapping to a different board.

Let me know if you have any questions. Take it easy.
