I was wondering how irreversible it is to make a recovery partion on HD "D". I have the discs and did not think I wanted to create a recovery partition as well... but I have the space and until/if I need it perhaps it is not such a bad idea to have a back up.

If I do create it...can I delete it just as easily at a later date?

    Thanks.

Yes - You can delete the recovery partition anytime you decide to do so. The pc recovery app has an option that allows you to delete the recovery partition.

    hi,
You can remove the partition using for example Partition magic or any other program with no problems but if you experience problems you should try to disable SATA configuration (AHCI configurationin Siemens computers) from BIOS. and disable any protection that may prevent you from deleting the recovery partition

    I hope it helped!

Or as Mr Bond! says usually such programs have an option to undo this action.

Yes bro; this is what i did after my purchase of dv6291ea:

1: made a recovery dvd (1) using recovery manager.
2: then i deleted the recovery partition using it.
3: then i installed Partition magic 8 and resized my c which was 155GB and the deleted 5 GB "d", in to 5x30 gb limit partitions. partition magic can resize, delete or make new partitions at run time.
4: then i installed Norton Ghost 2003 and made a backup of C partition which was a 15GB space which included vista and preinstalled all the stuff HP did into 3 dvds.

    thats it.

now i have a 1 recovery disk created by HP recovery manager and 3 whole partition's backup.

    now i am worry less.

i hope this can help u.

    Regards.

A good free tool you can use is GParted. Download the LiveCD and burn it, then boot off this CD. It has a GUI very similar to Partition Magic.
Partitioning hard disk is a very risky activity, so make sure your back up your data first because things may go wrong.
