Listen up boys and girls if you need to cancel an order it can be done. First thing you want to do is call HP and tell them the reason for canceling is because you bought a business notebook instead (even if you didn't), at that point they will hand you over to the next level of customer care. They do have the ability to cancel an order if it wasn't shipped already and you will get you money back much quicker.
Now if it was shipped all you need to do is refuse shipment and then call HP and let them know you refused shipment and you will also get your money back much quicker. If you don't call and just refuse shipment it will take you forever to get your money back.
If you accept shipment and then want to return you will have to go through the whole RMA# thing which will also take forever to get your money back.
Also if you do business with Buy.com they also have the ability to change an order, don't let customer care tell you they can't, it's BS. I originally chose 7-9 business days shipping but was able to change it after the order was placed to two day shipping.![]()

Great work Nancy Drew!!!
btw it's an order -
He's right! Your grammer totally destroys the concept at hand! [/sarcasm]
I found it generally easy to cancel orders with HP. Call them, tell them why, and they'll cancel. Can't take more than 10 minutes. -
This does not take a long time. It usually takes 4 - 5 days. When I returned my dv2000t, I called up on a Thursday and got the RMA#, Fedex picked up the day after and my money was refunded by Wednesday. -
I had to cancel my notebook order because it got delayed 2 weeks and i needed it before I went off to school. After several calls they told me I couldn't cancel my order, cause it was too late. Keep in mind this was way before they even shippped the notebook. I ended up calling the credit card company and told hault payment. My parents refused to sign, when the laptop finally arrived. Its lame how they can charge you soo fast, but yet make it such a hassle to get your money back, even when its their fault. Thumbs down to HP.

Moreover 4-5 business days cannot be classified as forever(as you originally stated) -
HP is the only company that I no of that charges your credit card when you place an order. Sears, jcpenney, costco, to name three charge your credit card when the item is shipped. I cancelled an order from HP and reordered another one and had two computers charged to my credit card until the first one was credited back to me about a week later. HP sucks.

Day #7 and I still haven't got my money back. They claim they have to recieve the laptop back first before they can apply a credit. -
